Maybe you would consider a language exchange. In this way, a German speaker who wants to improve their English will help you with your German if you help them with their English. You can find somebody to e-mail, chat, skype, etc with. Here are some sites to visit:

http://www.sprachtausch.net/index.php?guilang=en
http://langtech.dickinson.edu/login.aspx

If you don`t have any German knowledge, I suggest that you visit some websites that have free online courses or lessons so that you have at least something to work with when you find an e-mail partner. Here are a couple that might be helpful for a beginner.
