Ummm... hmm. Well let's see, a prism splits light into it's more basic components, it's wavelengths. A brain... could do that with an idea or a problem but... I think it's a better symbol of critical thinking specifically than the brain as a whole.

Anything can be a symbolic reference to the brain if you are really stretching for a metaphor.
