try harder!

You're only human, not Superman.
The important thing is that you just keep trying. Never make a promise to quit... because that's just too hard for anyone with a smoking addiction.
Just make a promise to try to quit, and then keep THAT promise, and one day you may actually reach the point where you've totally quit.

Good Luck~*

it would be easy to say that you should quit. but the real answer is that you really shouldnt make a promise like that. smoking is an addiction that can not be easily quit. you may need help to quit. look into that and dont be discouraged because you cant keep your promise. if the person cares about you they will understand.

maybe you could compromise and not smoke during certain activities or on certain days.

Become a stronger person and quit. You only can't quit because you don't really want to. I suggest getting a pack of smokes sit down chain smoke until you have finished that pack and made yourself sick. Then when you feel like poop then you will wonder why you ever wanted to smoke and then in the morning when you wake up and your throat hurts, your sweating nicotine, and feel like poop you will think again how horrible this is. That might make you be a stronger person and uphold your promise. It is just a matter of will. How strong is your will????One last thing try water and sunflower seeds to help with your oral fixation while trying to quit. Best of luck to you:) I did it you can to!

First off, dont make promises you cant keep. Secondly, have you honestly tried everything you can to quit? Ask yourself what your motivation was for making this promise. Did you really want to quit or were you appeasing someone? I think you should be honest with this person and let them know you have been smoking. Dont promise to quit for them, you have to do it for yourself or you will fall of the wagon again in no time.

Smoking is an addiction. Making a mere promise to quit smoking is not really understanding the situation. You are going to need a support system and a strong desire to overcome the effects of smoking before you will be able to truly address that problem. You can do it & I suggest that you discuss it with your Primary Care Physician before undertaking this endeavor. Once you have gotten sick and tire of the effects and all the repercussioins that smoking entales, only then will you be sweetly reasonable to discard this filthy habit.

you just have to keep trying it takes smokers(on average) about 5-6 times to quit if your really struggling try and agree on what amount you should smoke like when i was quitting i only allowed myself (agreed with my kids)3-5 a day and would only smoke in the kitchen. Its amazing how easier it makes it-for me at least smoking had more to do about being bored than really needing them(other than those 3-5) then its a lot easier to think about. Its ok to feel bad if you fail at first(that can keep you motivated) but guilt can ruin it so just keep doing your best and be honest
practice at quitting worse things than smoking and it worked you can only stop if your ready& willing

Quiting smoking is like trying to lose weight. A very difficult task!
It would be great if there was a magic pill that would solve all of our problems, but unfortunately there isn't. I would find the ugliest picture of a lung with tar or a list of all the illnesses you can get due to smoking, put it on your fridge or somewhere you visit daily like your bathroom mirror, or in your wallet or purse, to remind you that life is short and we only get to live it once. So why make it shorter!

Well a promise is a promise and it shouldn't be broken, but we are all humans and sometimes its hard to keep a promise. 1st off you have to do things because you want to do it not because some one else wants you to do so. 2nd It is lead to believe you love this person? you just have to sit down with them and tell them that its taking more time then what you aspect ed, and that you can not complety quit so fast. You have to take step by step until you success ed. You can also try to seek some professional help because in some situations a person need to be guied in order to reach their goals.

You should quit. Stop being a baby and put down the cigarettes. It's hard, but it's the best thing you can do for yourself and you promised someone that you would.

1) Learn not to make promises you might not be able to keep

2) You CAN quit but it takes a lot of will power and self control...try a method you haven't tried yet...when you are TRULY ready to give 'em up, you will...

3) Tell the person you made the promise to that you are having more difficulty than you imagined, but if they will support you, you will continue with your effort to quit (and stay quit)...

Quitting is easy..staying quit is the hard part!

Good luck!
