many ppl in my tour group got food poisoning in China

Believe it or not most Chinese have built an immunity to all the "dirty" food foreigners complain about. I think it's just a matter of adapting to an environment. Many Chinese people can eat all that dirty food that would give you food poisoning for example, but still get diarhea if they drink cold (clean) water. Also, it's a third world country. Compare the food in China to the food in another third world country and you'll find that it's pretty much the same. At least in my experience.
PS. To whoever it was that said stay in McDonald's. You couldn't be more wrong. There was a huge scandal in McDonald's years ago. They used to buy the dirty oil that the street vendors didn't want anymore and fry their stuff in it. They probably don't anymore, just because they were found out. But if they were capable of that...

i would say that it was a coincidence with the food poisoning. they probably drank the water.........not a good idea. i spend 7 weeks in china and felt healthier and better than i have in my whole life and i was never around americans or american food. i consider the food healthier and tastier than american food........it's different, no doubt about it. but most chinese people aren't fat like most americans.........and the chinese that are big are the ones that eat at mcdonald's......just my opinion....

Yes .. very dirty for no reason.
You are lucky that you do not live in China.
Do not think of going to China. It is a very dirty country.
Stay in where you think it is clean and safe. EAT AT HOME.
IT SEEMS THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PICK A GOOD RESTAURANT NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO

Chinese like cooked food, most local food is great

some of the restaurants there do not clean their dishes, pots, etc. i went to shanghai and they gave me black fried rice, and it was way disgusting, most of the people there are uneducated and don't know how to clean. better stick with mcdonald's, pizza hut, and burger king :-P
