Umm, I've never seen a dog take off it's leg. I've seem them lift their leg while using the "facilities". I would say this is so that they don't get any on themselves. Which is a lot better than most guys I know who can't aim and always hit the toilet seat....

Because 1) They want to mark their scent on an object.
2) Because they don't want to pee on themselves
3) Male dogs mainly do this b/c they will pee all over themselves, while females very rarely do this unless they want to mark their scent on something.

dogs do not take off their leg while urinating, however, male dogs raise their leg. they do that so they don't pee on it.

First of all, dogs rise their leg when peeing, not taking it off,....
Secondly,...... do you not take your pecker out when peeing?
Dumb question!

amputee dogs do it as to not befowl their expensive removeable leg. especially if they have the "C" leg. other dogs howl in jealousy and meerly lift their legs in homage.
