Jesus was not God in flesh. Jesus was not the son of God. It is nothing but human arrogance to consider that God is male or his shape is like a human or that He ever had a son or that He ever chose to come to us in flesh. King Solomon did have some great and awesome powers which truly no one before him nor after him, had. Throughout times, different prophets have been given different gifts and qualities. King Solomon was wise and had control of the winds and genies. Jesus was born to a virgin mother and God did this to again demonstrate his power.

First Adam was created, without any parents at all, out of nothing.
Then Eve was created, from Adam.
Christ was created, from Mary.

God did this to show all aspects of creation. He can create a human out of nothing, without any parents. He can create a human out of only a man. He can create a human out of only a woman. And He can definitely give life through a man and a woman.

You cannot compare apples and oranges. They are two different things.

Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee [1Kings 3:12].

Solomon does stand out as being a wise ruler. When you read the Books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, you will find human wisdom on the highest plane. I do not mean that these books are not inspired of God. It is obvious that God through Solomon is giving the highest of human wisdom, making it clear in both books that mere human wisdom is totally inadequate to meet the issues of life.

Note the emphasis on HUMAN wisdom. Solomon was not in the same class as Jesus as to be compared.

Behold, I have done as you asked. I have given you a wise, discerning mind, so that no one before you was your equal, nor shall any arise after you equal to you.
1 Kings 3:12 (Amplified Bible)

I like the Amplified version because there is a little more context - I think that it is Solomon as a man . Jesus was not just a man He was and is a part of God part of the Trinity that puts him in a different realm than a mere man like Solomon, but as a man alone with no diety Solomon is the man. There is no comparison between Jesus and Solomon becuase they are not equals. Solomon has no "part God" in him.

Means actually what it says. God gave him a wise heart that was not like any wise heart before him, or any other after him. That is why he and he alone had to wisdom to write Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon. It was exactly the wise heart he needed to do what God called him to do.

Jesus also had a wise heart, but it was different then Solomon's. So instead he preached the Sermon on the Mount and told parables. That was the wisdom in His heart.

Also every Christian can have wisdom because among the promises give to us is that "Jesus is made to us wisdom" and "If we lack wisdom, we can ask of God and he will give it". Won't be the same heart of wisdom he gave Solomon because we don't have to write a Bible book. Instead it will be the wisdom unique to your situation.

I think specifrically it's referring to Solomon's wisdom. The problem though that even though Solomon had this infinite understanding, it didn't keep him from messing his life up. He was referred to as the wisest sinner and if you read Ecclesiastes you see how pissed off that he was that he wasted his life in meaningless pursuits of material possessions, sex and even gaining in knowledge and understanding. He thought it all vanity and foolish. His wisdom was not comparable to any other but he still lived foolishly...kind of ironic

Upon looking at this passage it doens't say "greater" it just says that no one is going to be like him...that doesn't necessarily imply greatness though the gift he received from God was awesome..Jesus is God in flesh so, no. I don't believe that Solomon was greater, he was a smart, screw up. Jesus was the spotless lamb.

The bible says that among men that there are none righteous in their own right. So ultimately Jesus died for Solomon's sins too

Not even close. I love to read about Solomon, God gave him so much! But remember that God gave Jesus even more! Jesus was part God and part man, Solomon was all human none divine.
Solomon was a great man, no doubt and nobody has been like him, but Jesus by far passes him, as Jesus is God. Solomon could not have died on the cross for you, as he was not pure as Jesus was. He couldn't have paid the price for your sins like Jesus did.
Yes, no doubt, Solomon was a great man, but not as great as Jesus by any means. Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father, Solomon does not.

Jesus was the son of GOD. Maybe in the world, since Solomon was a great king he might have had a more impressive resume, but over all Jesus was Greater. He preformed miracle, we celebrate his birthday ever year and his Resurrection. Jesus even has his own religion. "Christ"ians!

No, Jesus is Lord and Nothing is Greater Than God. He created Solomon.

No, the creator is always greater than the created. Jesus is a part of the trinity and uncreated. He is God, or He and God are one. Solomon was the wisest man to ever live.

Grace and Peace
