I know that a large number of people are going to say yes because of the christian beliefs. However, did you ever stop to think that situations just happen, that they are there for us to grow and learn from. It is just situation, that is all nothing is good nothing is bad.

I agree with you. We are challenged and learn from those.
Concept of sin is a way for the church to try to control and maintain obedience.

Yes. I'm 29yr christian. I was saved only 4yrs ago. Grew up in an agnostic home. I had the same question among others and asked alot of different people their opinions. Opinions are just opinions.

If its opinion you are looking for then I could write a book on your question(s) about how there is "sin" and there are "sins". Also how our situations are arranged for a specific purpose without the focus being on the outcome but how you get to the outcome.

If you are really searching, I recommend that you read the bible for yourself (Genesis from the Old Testament then the New Testament starting with Gospel of John) with an open heart and open mind.

Situations don't just HAPPEN. To say that they do is to say that nobody is in control. In this world Satan is very active---he is the illegitimate ruler of the earth. He is busy 24/7 doing his best to make life miserable for you and trying to keep you occupied in his temptation. His ultimate goal is to kill you and see you in the same hell that he has already been condemned to. Fortunately, God limits his activities (See the first and second chapters of Job). Sin is disobedience to God. I did not make this rule, God did. You can obey God or you can disobey him. Your personal beliefs have nothing to do with it because God is no respecter of persons, meaning that he does not change the rules just because someone does not want to believe in them. We can only grow spiritually by obey God and growing in Christ. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Situations can never be viewed in the neutral sense---they are either beneficial or detrimental to your person and growth. It would be nice if there was some sort of Neutral zone that we could hide in, but this is not Star Trek or Babylon 5. This is the real world hurling through a real universe. Jesus loves you.
