Does anyone know what the procedure is for leaving the Army Reserves when your contractual obligation is over? I used to think the date just came and you were done. Apparently there are requirements such as retention counseling 12 months from your ETS as well as counseling with the commander. Does anyone know a comprehensive listing of what is required to ETS or where I can find that information? I have faithfully served my 8 years of contractual service and I want to make sure my ETS is smooth and that there are no problems. Thank you in advance for your help.

You are suppose to receive counseling from the retention person and an interview with the old man. other than that... just wait it out and on your last weekend of drill, show up in civilian clothes with all of your gear to turn in. MAKE SURE you get a copy of your check-out sheet clearing you from medical, dental and admin as well as your turn in sheet for your gear. Your retention officcer will be the one in trouble for not having a chat with you about staying in

The only thing you _have_ to do is ensure that you have turned in all of your government property, and completed your security debriefing (if necessary).

If you miss the ETS briefings - that is a gig on the commander and you will still ETS on schedule.
