10 minutes, but to be safe, 15 minutes. If you are cooking above 350 (say like...450) pre-heat for a good 15-20 minutes. Hope this helps!

Until it reaches the right temperature. If you are following a recipe and it says to cook at 450 degrees, preheat your oven till it reaches that temperature before inserting food. Most ovens have a light that goes off (or on) when the temperature is reached. If yours does not, they sell some at bed bath & beyond and stores like it. I am not sure if I answered your question, but it wasn't very specific. I hope I helped.

New ovens tell you when they are done preheating. For old ovens, you can always buy a thermometer or just look to see if the burner is still on.

Some foods come out better if you don't put them in the oven till the oven has reached full temperature.

WHAT?? you set your oven temp..when the light goes off your at that temperature..if you have an old school oven..wait a while and turn the knob down...when you hear a click that's the temperature your at.

u set the temperature u want it to, or what ever temp the directions say on the package, and then when the oven reaches that temp. a red light goes on and little bell rings( on mine it does).

Until it reaches the temperature you set it for.The heating elements will shut off at that temp and cycle ( turn off then on again) then.
