I'd say that's a paradox. Good or bad luck cannot become of you if you are dead. Unless you believe that luck follows you to the next life - if you believe in that.

I doubt whether you go to heaven, stay on earth, or go to hell is affected by whether you die on your birthday or not. I would agree with others that it'd be somewhat ironic and it'd be unfortunate for those looking to celebrate your birthday.

I think it's the dying that counts, not the date. So yes, it's very bad luck indeed.

It's bad luck for the people left behind, they were expecting to be celebrating something but instead they are grieving.
My mother said [of my father] "I wish I'd told him to open his cards yesterday!"
As if you could say, open them today, you might be dead tomorrow!
