The difference is when you're pregnant you have another human growing inside you. This is where the weight is coming from. When you're fat and lazy and just eat too much. It's just extra fat.

1. The baby itself actually adds weight.
2. You do need to eat more when you are "eating for two".
3. It is healthy to put on a little more weight when you are pregnant, however, most women take it too far. They eat too much and often the wrong foods and gain unnecessary weight just like every other schmo on the planet. Many women use pregnancy as an excuse for their poor eating habits, but it is just like any other time of your life - you need to eat well! Like I said, it is normal and healthy to gain some additional weight, but most women gain waaaayy too much weight and blame being pregnant. In that case, there is no difference.
