I don't know. The texture of them really is quite disgusting when you think about it. And have you ever bit into one and looked at the meat? (shudder)
My 28 month old LOVES chicken nuggets. He's becoming such a picky eater lately. He used to eat anything. Now, if he doesn't recognize it, he won't eat it. I'm just enabling his chicken nugget habit though...I was at BJ's this weekend and saw some that were dinosaur shaped, so I bought them. :D

Because they don't know better....most of the "nuggets" are pure junk food. They are okay if they are real meat, but many are not. Children learn to like that food that they are given. If you never gave a kid a chicken nugget in his or her life, and then tried to give them one when they were 7 or 8, I bet you 100 dollars that most kids would hate them. The appeal of chicken nuggets is that they are convenient for parents.

Nuggest are exactly the same every time = dependable. That's why most children like the same story read over and over again. Dependable translates to security.
Nuggest are rather bland in taste as well. The taste buds in children are different than those in adults, so most taste things more sharply. Many experts feel that this is why many children don't like exotic foods that they are not used to.
They are also kid-sized and easy to manipulate with small hands.
Perhaps another reason is that they are a quick alternative to making dinner from scratch for some parents, and so the children get used to them! :o)

Mine doesn't. He is 21 months eat old and prefers fruit and vegetarian breakfast strips. It can be a real chore to get him to eat anything else.
I think kids like whatever they were fed early on that they are used to. My son's first solid foods were fruit and crackers, and so that is the type of food he likes. Other kids are fed "kid foods" from the beginning, like french fries and chicken nuggets, so that's what they end up liking. At least, that's the case as far as I can tell from personal experience.

I think chicken nuggets are considered "Fun Foods!" Kids can eat it with their fingers, dip it in the ketchup, swirl it around and let it get on their fingers and lick it off! I watch my daughter eat those things and I swear she gets so involved into it! It takes her forever to eat 4 nuggets because she eats each one individually and seems to give a song and dance with it! LOL.... besides..its chicken! In order for my child to eat any other meat (other then fish) I have to tell her its chicken!

i wonder the same thing all the time....that is all my 6 year old wants to eat...mcdonalds chicken nuggets, homemade nuggets, frozen nuggets, all the time.....its amazing.
maybe it has something to do with the fact that they are fast, easy, and easy for children to handle.....if you make them yourself from real chicken, its not that bad for the kids to eat....just dont give them fast food nuggets all the time.

is MSG addictive?
I think it's the perfect mix of salt and sugar.
Why do adults like four beers or a bottle of wine?
My daughter wont touch them though as she has never been fed much convenience food, but I am sure Macdonalds and KFC will happen some day

they are easy to pick up, taste good, and can be dipped in sauce! as long as they aren't coming from McDonald's(tyson is good for storebought, but totally homemade from fresh breastmeat and fresh breadcrumbs is best), then i wouldn't worry! chicken nuggets are an excellent source of protein for growing kids. ;-)
