I can't figure out why the teachings of Paul of Tarsus are more significant than thos of Jesus of Nazareth, but the pattern in a local Baptist minister's sermons that I've heard seems to show just that. The vast majority of sermons are based on letters and epistles from Paul of Tarsus to various early Chrtistian churches, with only occasional references to the Four Gospels that include the words and teachings of Jesus Christ. Am I missing something, here?

Paul had alot of views that 'convieniently' fit with alot racist, bigoted, misogynistic types opinions.I'd consider switching churches,if I were you, or boycotting that church altogether.Christianity has a bad enough rep without there being another bigot type in a position of power.

Well, Paul is more responsible for the spread of the message of Christ than Christ himself. That means that Christ's message was filtered through the mind of Paul and that Paul's teachings, arguably, have been more important to the history of Christianity than those of Christ.

Also, since we have no first-person, direct remnants of Jesus's teachings (i.e., he left behind no writings), we are left to learning of his words and deeds from the mouths (and pens) of others. Paul, on the other hand, left behind a number of texts on a variety of topics that we can read and engage even to this day. It's not surprising, then, that a preacher would emphasize the study of Paul's epistles.

No you are not missing anything, you are right and I'll show you something if you will read the 17th
chapter of St John where Jesus is praying....He prayed for the ones with him and for the ones that would hear their words.Paul was not there.
I see the same thing and I know that they are
not in the Spirit of truth by doing that, most hold a very high value to Paul's teachings,I think Paul would like that but I want to be where Jesus likes that.

The reason for this is that Paul was givin' the job of preaching to the non jewish people and in most baptist churches there are more non jewish people. Paul was a very good teacher and he stood up for his beliefs through all kinds of torture and punishment. I agree the Gospel Needs to taught but the letters from Paul are basically an instruction book on how to live a Christian life. Hope this answers your question.

Perhaps the minister is just making His way through preaching the entire Bible and just happens to currently be in the Epistles. I would imagine it would take quite a while to get through them. Hope that helps.

Maybe he doesn't like women any more than Paul did. Many of Jesus' teachings are kind to women.
