Guinness makes it official, Zack is big

It's official: Zack Strenkert of Goshen was the world's largest baby.
Zack – now 3 years old, 3 feet 9 inches tall, and 115 pounds – was featured last night on Guinness Prime Time. The new show on Fox television network is affiliated with the Guinness Book of World Records.
The toddler gained international notoriety in 1996 at the age of 16 months, when his mother, Laurie Strenkert was at her wit's end to find out why he was already 3 feet tall and 61 pounds. She called The Times Herald-Record for help. Laurie and Chris Strenkert had no insurance and could not afford the specialized testing needed to find out why he was so big.
He's a normal kid in every way except for his size, the Strenkerts told Guinness. His appetite is completely normal too – except when he hits one of his tremendous growth spurts. Then his appetite soars to keep up with his body's energy demands.
Local people donated adult diapers and other outsized supplies to his family, and national and foreign media swarmed over the family home.
The family was finally able to have endocrinologists and ultimately geneticists examine Zack.
In the end, he was diagnosed with a rare recessive genetic glitch called Simpson Golabi Behmel syndrome. It means, basically, that he's big. An expert quoted on the Guinness show said Zack could grow to be 7 feet tall. At every stage of his life, he'll be larger than almost everyone else that age.
But no matter how big Zack gets, Chris Strenkert said on last night's show, "He'll always be loved tremendously by us."
