Not even a close question. The answer is THAILAND! Thailand is beautiful, and the people are spiritual and friendly. It has a stable government, and a peaceful, friendly people. It has all the things you mention......watersports, unbelievable beaches, and in the north it has jungles, wild elephants and wild life. Of course it also has a different kind of night life "wild life" in and around Bangkok, Phuket, etc. in the south.......when and if you get tired of riding the elephants and laying on the beaches. (hehe)!, It is also inexpensive to travel or live there.

Indonesia is too unstable and dangerous. It is full of fundamentalist Muslims and has many terrorists. Even the nice places, like Bali, are not safe. I live in Southeast Asia (Philippines), and Indonesia is the last country I would ever visit.

In my personal opinion, it would be Thailand. It's not even hard to decide.

In Thailand, you can find a lot of tourist spots for all sorts of watersport, nightlife, beaches, wild life and jungles.

Thailand is more tourism oriented than Indonesia. The Thai government puts a lot of effort into the tourism industry in Thailand. They even have tourist police (unheard of in Indonesia, I think) to give the necessary help and protection to the tourists there. The locals can be imprisoned or put to jail if they mistreat the tourists there.

Obviously, the Thai government has much interest in developing its tourism industry and has brought it to higher levels of success. The Indonesian government, on the other hand, has not done as much of such efforts in developing its nation in terms of tourism. Besides, I would not want to visit Indonesia for my vacation because of the most of locals there (in some parts of Indonesia) who discriminate against the Chinese people or Westerners. The Thai people are known to be more friendly, warm, helpful and hospitable. You'll certainly enjoy your time in Thailand.

None.
Seriously, Try the Philippines. You can read about the reviews in the Yahoo Travel Section. Great Night Life, Almost everyone speaks English. Superb Beaches (which is poorly advertised, but when you see it, I am sure it will take your breath away)- e.g. Boracay, Palawan, Subic (beach and Jungle). and not to mention - SHOPPING. Surely it's cheap in Thailand and Indonesia too, but I cannot say much about the quality. The malls in Manila are just great. - Even if it's cheap, Quality is superb.
