You get to fill out a 'dream sheet' where you list the posts you would prefer to go. Then if the Army needs you at one of those posts you would be given priority for that post.

Otherwise you go where the Army feels they need you most.

All military members, officer and enlisted, have SOME say in where they want to be stationed, but the needs of the military always come first (which means you usually don't get the assignment you want). In the Air Force, officer and enlisted folks have an on-line system called Virtual MPF where they can log in and put in their assignment preferences. When schools are involved, if you have two students who want to "swap" assignments that can be done under certain circumstances. Regardless of which branch of the service you are in, all assignment issues are dealt with by Personnel.

Your butt belongs to the Bush resource war, kiss your butt goodbye. How smart does someone have to be to join any military controlled by the idiot currently sitting in The White House?

No. They may tell you upon enlisting that you do, but they lie.

They are also pulling those who have signed up to be in the Navy or Air Force into the infantry.
