I'm trying to submit an essay, but it keeps saying "no single quotes". But there aren't any quotations in my essay. Does anyone know what this means?

The single quotation mark loks like this: 'blah blah blah'. They are apostrophes, and they are used around quotations inside other quotations. Perhaps you have misused some apostrophes. Hop this helps.

Single quotes could refer to the use of the apostrophe(') as a quote like this 'sample quote'. It might be that you have misused the apostrophe so that the computer is reading it as a quote. You could take out any shortened words to see if it will work. Don't know if that helps. :)

They are quotations in side quotations. For example
John said, " Steve is so stupid. He said, 'I am so cool.' I am just not talking to him anymore."
