What you mean what happen to the whales?
Depending on individuals, swimming isn't the best exercise enough or simply not enough or achievable. And what do you mean by good? And what you mean "what happen" to the whales?

Whales are whales, and during the continuous evolution and changes, whales become they way they're now, live at different oceans of the world as they're now, and eat different type of food as they way they're now. What happened to the whales? You should ask "What happened to those fat *** kids in the US?" They also evolved, got better medical science and care, and balance diet, ... and they got so fat and obese....

Yep. It's the overhunting that has led to the whales downfall.

Plus, the reason that swimming is good for humans is because we're not that good at it. If we had evolved to be swimmers we would get much less resistance from the water and it wouldn't be near as physically demanding. i.e. it wouldn't be as good of an exercise.

Swimming and eating and reproducing, playing in the water--what's better than that? They need to steer clear of Japanese trawlers.
