last nite my fren and i got drunk and this morning we got a call frm the hospital that they need blood for an emergency case.. and my fren got to the hospital and donated her blood.. is it possible that they find alcohol in blood ?what % of alcohol will it be in her blood ? we were drunk as hell last nite ! will that blood be discarded ?

Blood banks don't test for the presence of alcohol or drugs as part of the routine testing. If you guys really were that drunk, I would recommend that you're friend call the blood bank and have them discard her blood, because alcohol can act as a blood thinner. Someone in need of a transfusion certainly doesn't need thinner blood.

contact the blood bank- and ask. I'm surprised that you were specifically called by the hospital to donate unless you have a special type blood. The labs do run several tests- your complete metabolic panel probably reflected some abnormalities which would alert the lab to further investigate. As far as the alcohol level in your blood- it depends on how much you drink and how long you waited to donate. The body generally metabolizes 60 points worth of alcohol per hour.

I have no idea, lets hope that if they do find it, it is at a low enough level so as not to kill the person.(either by having too much alcohol in their fragile state, or by not being able to receive the blood that they desperately need.) Hope it was one hell of a night worth risking a life.

it might be discarded usually the blood alcohol levels go down about 1% an hour so it may not be really high

how drunk.how much do you weight.how much time from when you st oped drinking.until you arrived in the hospital. yes the will test it.for hepatitis,alcohol,drugs.and then your going to be taken off the emergency list,and added to another. to make appointments. when was the last time you donated blood.

oh yeah they'll find alcohol in it and they'll know how drunk you were. depends how desperate they are for the blood if they'll dump it.
