Not only are police officers still using guns, but now they are putting 50,000 volts of electricity through people with tasers. Tasers are being used on citizens when guns would have never been used on people. Drunk people are getting tazed, senior citizens, and even children. Mostly for minor reasons. Tasers shoudl be banned. Here is a videoclip of a woman being tasered during a traffic stop.

Because americans are ignorant to the dangers of such weapons. This includes the officers who use them. Anyone with any sense who has read the Amnesty International report on stun weapons would want to eradicate them from the face of the earth. Unfortunately, most Americans are too busy focusing on the real issues...Like the fact that Pam Anderson and Kid Rock are re-engaged, or that some guy traded a paperclip for a house.

Tasers should be used more. The 50K volts aren't killing anyone. It is the methamphetamine, and the cocaine the violent people used that got them tasered in the first place that is killing them. Has anyone here writing answers ever had to deal with someone who was under the influence of these mind altering drugs? I have done it on several occasions and a taser is a better alternative than getting sued by the family after they have to be shot.

She got what she deserved. Comply with instructions and you won't have it happen to you. there would have been a time she would have been yanked out of the car by her head through the butterfly window. It's a non-lethal weapon. Oh sure...there will be someone that drops when it's used but not everyone is in the best of shape or coked out of their minds for the past five days that their heart is beating like a trip hammer.

Would you prefer a nightstick across the teeth? That has worked well in the past with those pesky anti-socail people that needed a rap or two.

Has it and will it be abused by some. Yep. So you address that particular incident or person. Not the entire police organization as a whole. Wish they had it when i worked the streets. there'd be a few less idiots with broken patellas limping around out there.

Besides...amps kill....not volts.

tasers are a way for police officers to gain compliance. in that particular video she could have EASILY avoided this by listening to the instructions given by the police officer. you must be a real hippie to think that police shouldnt carry guns too.

Because the alternative is physical force and in this lawsuit crazy country The officers are being told not to get physical with people to get them to obey. How would you get irrational crazy people to comply with your commands? For example if two kids in school are fighting, and you command them to break it up, and they ignore you. You have to stop the fight, now when I was in school they just would have just picked up the students and planted them face first on the ground, and it would not have mattered if we got some bruises or not, because OUR PARENTS WOULD HAVE SIDED WITH THE SCHOOL AND POLICE AND WE WOULD HAVE BEEN PUNISHED MORE WHEN WE GOT HOME!
