This one is for 'whynotaskdon' because he's famous for quoting violent quotes from the koran but when it comes to bible quotes that are as violent, if not more so, he remains strangely silent.
Some lovely examples;
Numbers 16:26 And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of their's, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
16:27 So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
Deutoronomy 13 clearly commands christians to kill every person in a city where god is not worshipped and then to burn the city to the ground. Can you see a pattern developing here?
1 Samuel 2 31-34 says that if you anger god he will chop off your arms, rot out your eyes and heart and then kill your sons and grand sons.
There you have it, love and forgiveness christian style.

I'm taking DIRECT quotes from your own bible, how can that POSSIBLY be taken out of context? (Hint: it can't)

I say, " Why ask Don." His quips are a pain in my nut sack. Both books preach violence. They make Saving Private Ryan look like Sesame Street. The Passion of the Christ was like watching a snuff film in Latin. Hell, in the Spanish Inquisition they would dislocated your shoulders for having a superfluous third nipple like Krusty the Clown possessed.
A few hundred years ago I would have been executed for my ideas because God is great. I'm sure there isn't a few Fundies who's questions I have answered that wouldn't think that would be a bad idea right now.

Hmm, I guess you stopped halfway through the bible huh? Because Jesus came to abolish the old law. God knows all men sin all the time and no system of rules and sacrifice would work. We're all born with wicked and deceptive hearts. And your first Samuel quote is inaccurate, God is not chopping anyone's arms off or rotting anyone's eyes out. God was addressing a rebellious preist whose family disregarded their teachings. Just like modern times, people who do wrong often face punishment of some kind or another, this family line in Samuel, were not to see long life. The scripture in it's entirity is pretty clear about it. But i will give you this, the old testament is full of violence. It demonstrates how men are violent and wicked and sinful, and how no matter how many times God forgives and shows mercy we continue to act selfishly. Mankind as a whole is who i mean by "we". We murder lie cheat decieve, abuse all that God intended for us to enjoy and then have a big sissy fit because we cant do as we please. Every kingdom has it's system of right and wrong, rewards for those who do right and punishment for those who do wrong. Bottom line is this, God's kingdom is the most gracious, no other government would forgive you all your sins and accept you just because you ask for forgiveness. You commit a crime/sin you'll face your ruling authority and recieve what you should. Christ did die so that the reward of a lifetime of sin wouldnt be death. He did die so that we would know what true mercy and grace and forgiveness is. Yeah i went on. But hey you asked.

The Bible is just a collection of fairy tales that have been taken as holy writ from God himself. Back in those days, it was believed that sin was a 'tangible' poison that could be transferred from one person to another, hence the common method of execution in those days, stoning, a way to kill the condemed without actually touching him. Also a likely reason that the Christians invented the story of the Crucifixion, the blood of Christ, a literal 'something' to wash off this 'sin'.
But getting back to the point. The Qur'an is a violent book of death, meyham, and destruction of all non-Muslims - hence Jihad in whatever form it's taken at any point in history, terrorism these days. Despite the fact that Muslims swear up and down that they are a peaceful people who would never impose their religion on anyone, even when he's got a gun in your face, saying "Convert, or die!", Muslims are not the dominant majority in this country, Christians are. Christians believe that Muslims are evil and that they're the Armies of the Devil or something like that, to come up and make war against God in Armageddon. They happily ignore the fact that their own 'holy book' contains much of the same killing as the Qur'an because apparently Jesus said "Love thy neighbor".
This 'whynotaskdon' charactor is probably nothing more than a garden-variety Christian fundementalist who's all too eager to bash Islam, because it's different and he doesn't like it, and ignore the killing in his own Bible because he's either embarrased by it, can't rationalize it with himself, or, more likely, like most Christians, he hasn't read his Bible enough to know that stuff is even there.

I don't know what's in the quran because I've never read it, but I'm a Christian, and the the bible teaches peace. Most of the violence that comes out of the bible was in the old testament where the jews were trying to survive, and yes God told them to attack cities and kill all the men women and children, and yes they did so. But as Christians we are NOT Jews, and the New Testament teaches peace. Jesus never once preached violence, in fact he says "love your enemies" and "turn the other cheek" and he practiced what he preached when he endured beatings and a horrible death without ever once cursing the people who did it to him. And that Numbers quote that u quoted doesn't once say to kill anyone. It says to avoid people who are doing evil and not to touch anything of theirs, what's wrong with that? That's like telling your child not to hang out with drug dealers, you think that's a problem?? God only tells us things that will protect us because yes, everyone is his child, including you whether you know it or not.

All the scriptures you just quoted are from the Old Testament. With Jesus's arrival, came a whole set of new laws. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone", and so on and so forth. A lot of the laws in the Old Testament were laws for the Hebrews to follow in the desert.

All your verses are from the old testament. Though Christians read the old testament, they follow the new covenant laid out by Jesus Christ in the new testament. We read the old testament to see how the world was before Jesus Christ and how He brought about change.
Are you really wanting to know the truth, or are you just angry. Let go of anger and fear, let in love and you will find truth.
Though I am Christian, I do not believe the muslim religion advocates violence.

Both are books written by man. They have inherent flaws, and in the case of the Bible, have been re-written and altered so many times it's impossible to know the original meaning.
I haven't studied the history of the Quran to be able to speak confidently on it's history. However, both were written by *man*.
