I live in US and they are overseas. I am aware that Americans are more independent and are on their own once they graduate from high school, while in other cultures, families are more together even though the children have become adults.

I live in the same city as my parents and I visit about once a week. The way I see it, they have more love for you than anyone, so you should appreciate it (and them) while they are still around to receive it and know that you love them back. Every day might be a little much, but if they're footing the bill, I say go for it!

You know what 24 yr. old. I can understand the expense of a phone call overseas, but you should be glad you can call your parents. You never miss what you had until its gone. If your parents want to talk with you, give them that much. They raised you for 24 years. If all they want is a phone call, What the problem.

CALL THEM!!!!!

Indulge them, the more time goes, the older they gett, and you will remeber the things that you have spoken with them and whit which you have given them comfort of knowing the their child is healty and ok.
It is a kind gesture.
Americans are more independent , but I think that these independent people have forgotten what family is. And are indulging themselves in their freedom, without thinking that when they have their own family , then it would be nice to have contact with you parents ,grand parents ...

Well, my Mom will get upset if she doesn't hear from me for a few days. It's nice to check in, however, every day does seem like a lot. You could tell your parents you will call them every few days, when you're not busy, because it's too difficult to make sure to call EVERY night. That way, you're more on your own and it's a decision you've come to yourself.

You're right - in America, most of us become pretty independent after high school. I'm not sure where you are from, but I'm sure your customs are different. My advice to you would be to call them every few days... living in America, you should be independent, but you also want to respect you country's values and your parents, too. :)

are you an american, if so, call them once a week at most
If you still maintain your old nationality then keep calling them every single freaking day because you have nothing better to do with your time than to call and listen to the nothingness coming out of the other side of the phone.

It depends on what you want. Is once a day too much for you?

Another thing to consider, isn't it expensive to call them every day . . . long distance charges and all?
