For the longest time I've dealt with the SAME issue, and I've simply say by and did nothing about it, now I honestly have no problem with people that believe in God, Allah, or whatever. But I honestly hate it when people come up to me and start talking **** about me because I don't believe in anything but myself.

My moms friends came over today, and told me that I NEED to go to church, and like always I kept my mouth shut because I was tiring to be nice. I'm starting to get really pissed off at the amount of people that keep doing this.

I'm going to be starting my own religion soon, one based on computer programming logic, and one of the main points of the religion is not practice prejudice because it serves no point in the world.

What are some things that other people have done, basically to still be nice, yet tell people that try and convert you to **** off because you don't believe in what they do.

Oh and I almost forgot, the people that are just going to post stuff about how I shouldn't get offened over this, you obviously have no problem with prejudice.

Nicegirl...I am unable to send e-mails from Y answers, but...

I actually have thought it though, many times. I'm not creating my religion out of spite of anyone, many people said I wouldn't be able to do it, but its honestly not because of them. I look around the world, and I see people making stupid decisions, although many are their own choice, many people seem to have a difficulty thinking logically. My religion will focus on teaching people the basis of algorithm design, and analytical thinking, "churches" would simply be people talking about different types of logic, that is different ways to solve problems....Imagine if your religion could teach people how to get whatever they wanted out of life, even true happiness. In short people would "stop praying for someone to save them, and start saving themselves."

Anyway I thought I would share since you seemed to be interested, take care.

Well, you could do one of a number of things.

1) Tell whoever is talking to you, "Thank you for your concern. I'm not interested," then walk away.

2) Wonder why it is that so many people are trying to "convert" you, and pray for guidance. (That is, when a large number of people are all saying the same thing to me, I wonder if it is a sign, and so I pray to find the answer from the source.)

3) Create your own religion based on computer programming logic, but realize that computer programming logic is a human-created thing, and so you will essentially be "worshipping" the human mind, which isn't religious. Religion is the worship of God or the supernatural, and computer programming logic is neither God nor supernatural. Moreover, if you are worshipping something human and yet hoping to eradicate the human practice of prejudice, you are not going to succeed. The human being cannot eradicate human nature. Only God can help humans overcome human nature. In other words, you will set up a "no prejudice" rule, but the rule will have been instituted by a human for humans to follow--and humans will f*** it up. Guaranteed. This is what human beings do: wish something was some way, try to make a rule to make it that way, get other people to agree...and then things run foul. If you want to eliminate prejudice, you are going to need the help of God.

4) Relax. Take it easy.

5) Ask yourself why you get so angry when people talk to you about God. Is not anger a defense mechanism? What are you defending?

6) Ask for humility. It is not humble to exalt a human-based system of thought and logic. That is human-worship. And if you must worship ANYTHING, please don't worship the human being. You are already well acquainted with the errors of human ways. Why, then, seek to exalt them?

I understand what you're going through. My dad's family is devoutly catholic. One day I decided that I don't agree with too many things about catholicism. I was pretty much ostracized by my family for being sinful and not going to church. But I was so strong in my convictions that I welcomed a good discussion. My position was so well though out that eventually they left me alone, rather than be bombarded by my flawless logic and reasoning.

My advice to you? Fight back. If you can come back with a well thought out reason why you don't want to be religous, and at the same time put holes in their faith, then they'll eventually leave you alone. They may talk behind your back, but you'll feel a sense of superiority that YOU won the arguement.

There already are lots of religions that call on people not to practice prejudice.

My religion, Roman Catholicism, is just one of those religions. There are plenty of others.

When I was much younger; like you perhaps, I too thought believing in myself was all that was needed to make it through life. Like you think of programming as a religion, I thought science could be made a religion and it would be the answers to all our problems.

At 28, my life was a total mess, I started going to church because that's what all my elders, were asking me to do. I went out of desperation. Today, I am thankful to all them that urged me to go to church. I found the answers to the questions that were always on my mind. It took time, but I am happy where I am now.

I pray your life will not be mess, as mine was once was, and I hope you will one day go to church because you really want to go.

Okay, now what exactly is your problem? How are you trying to solve it?

It sounds like you said you want to start a religion because you're pissed at religious people. So you want to become a religious person. Are you saying "If you can't beat 'em join em'?

I'm not trying to make fun. I'm honestly trying to understand. Have you thought this thing through?

Here's a question to ask yourself: What is true? i am interested to know what it means when you say you believe only in yourself. maybe that is something to define in your new religion.
i am a christian but i think that just going to church or trying to get you to go to church has nothing to do with actually believing in the Truth. If you want to start your own religion you have to answer the basic questions that every religion strives to answer:
Where did we come from?
What's gone wrong with the world?
How do we fix it?
And where are we going (as in after we die)
Answer those questions and prove that they are true and you might just have something. but it has to be the truth.

I started my own religion too! One base on Reason instead of faith, over 60 members so far. Perhaps one day it will sink in. But to spend one moment of my life responding to childish behaviors. Raise the bar and respond positively to adult behaviors. Establish what those behaviors are and live by them.

Its illogical to be upset at something you apparently have no faith in. People will be evangelistic whether they do it with love or with a hammer should still have zero effect on you. Just so you know, the people doing this will never stop. Its one of main aspects the Bible calls disciples (Christians) to do.

Jesus is the Truth. You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Read your bible. Have a good day. God Bless.

just tell them that your beliefs are different, but they're personal and you'd prefer not to discuss them and that they don't require that you go to church.
