And please make it a real reason!

I mean Jesus Christ is the lover of my soul! He healed my father of lung cancer twice! He healed me of asthma and bronchial tube siezures. He also has saved my soul from eternal punishment! Why not give Him all the praise He deserves?!?!?

Because "god" was invented by man to explain the unknown and to comfort our fear of death.

Because every religion says the other is wrong so none are 100% right.

Because religion has been used for controll, power, and greed through out history.

Because religion is at the root of much of the problems in the world today.

Because if there was a "god" it would be greater than us mere humans could put into words.

Because mans ego has created "god" in our image.

Because there was no "god" when the dinosaurs were around.

Because religion is always changing, from the cave men, to the egyptians, to catholics, to christians, to scientology etc.

Because its outdated, the world is flat, don't wear condoms, gays go to hell etc.

Because your belief is based on what someone else has invented "god" to be not what "god" truly is.

Because millions of women were tortured and killed in the name of "god" for being witches.

Because man has used our most natural human instincts and declaired them sins, reproduction - self preservation etc., therefore making us all sinners and all in need to be saved from hell which gives power to the church.

Because most people believe in "god" because they have been taught since birth that its real, like santa clause.

Because "god" is wrathful and full of vengence.

Because "god" will send you to hell if you don't believe in him regardless if you were a good person, and accept all the molesters, rapists, and murderers into heaven just because they asked for forgiveness right before they died.

Because you should live your life to the fullest here on earth, instead of in shame from sin and in hopes of false promises of an afterlife in heaven.

Because the outdated, non logical, self rightous, herd mentallity is whats wrong with the world.

I don't take people's word for things. If you believe in God then you could possibly believe in Aliens because it has the same reasoning. There is no tangible evidence that suggests God's existence even though a lot of people believe in God and have started various groups based on this belief (e.g., religious denominations, church). This is the same for Aliens. There is no tangible evidence that suggest Aliens exist but a lot of groups have formed based on this belief. Both have unexplained phenomenon that has lead curiosity to be explored through books (e.g., the Bible---which was written by man and has been revised several times by man) and entertainment (e.g., The Ten Commandments, Signs). To me, all of these things doesn't necessarily confirm the existence of God nor does it contradict God's existence.

What makes people believe in God and Aliens is not tangible either..it's called faith. So if you have faith in something then it doesn't matter what I believe or what anyone else believes because I can't understand your faith (because it comes from within you).

P.S.
Majickegotrip's post was really interesting.

I believe in God, but I can see why others may not.

Only a chosen few supposedly have seen Him. He should show himself and scare the unbelievers into a request for salvation.

Revelations is great piece of literary genius, but not believable as a prophecy of happenings in future times. John was just lamenting ill treatment from the Romans.

The Bible is somehow out of touch with today's generation. Unfortunately, most of it hasn't been proved to be true, even after two thousand years. Morals have now changed. The best example is the subjugation of women which is espoused in the Bible but is not acceptable in today's society.

In summary, there are an infinite number of reasons not to believe, but it takes only faith to believe.

I posted this exact answer in another similar post. I think it encapsulates exactly how I feel as someone who does not believe in god.

I believe that there is no God. I'm beyond atheism. Atheism is not believing in God. Not believing in God is easy -- you can't prove a negative, so there's no work to do. You can't prove that there isn't an elephant inside the trunk of my car. You sure? How about now? Maybe he was just hiding before. Check again. Did I mention that my personal heartfelt definition of the word "elephant" includes mystery, order, goodness, love and a spare tire?

So, anyone with a love for truth outside of herself has to start with no belief in God and then look for evidence of God. She needs to search for some objective evidence of a supernatural power. All the people I write e-mails to often are still stuck at this searching stage. The atheism part is easy.

But, this "This I Believe" thing seems to demand something more personal, some leap of faith that helps one see life's big picture, some rules to live by. So, I'm saying, "This I believe: I believe there is no God."

Having taken that step, it informs every moment of my life. I'm not greedy. I have love, blue skies, rainbows and Hallmark cards, and that has to be enough. It has to be enough, but it's everything in the world and everything in the world is plenty for me. It seems just rude to beg the invisible for more. Just the love of my family that raised me and the family I'm raising now is enough that I don't need heaven. I won the huge genetic lottery and I get joy every day.

Believing there's no God means I can't really be forgiven except by kindness and faulty memories. That's good; it makes me want to be more thoughtful. I have to try to treat people right the first time around.

Believing there's no God stops me from being solipsistic. I can read ideas from all different people from all different cultures. Without God, we can agree on reality, and I can keep learning where I'm wrong. We can all keep adjusting, so we can really communicate. I don't travel in circles where people say, "I have faith, I believe this in my heart and nothing you can say or do can shake my faith." That's just a long-winded religious way to say, "shut up," or another two words that the FCC likes less. But all obscenity is less insulting than, "How I was brought up and my imaginary friend means more to me than anything you can ever say or do." So, believing there is no God lets me be proven wrong and that's always fun. It means I'm learning something.

Believing there is no God means the suffering I've seen in my family, and indeed all the suffering in the world, isn't caused by an omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent force that isn't bothered to help or is just testing us, but rather something we all may be able to help others with in the future. No God means the possibility of less suffering in the future.

Believing there is no God gives me more room for belief in family, people, love, truth, beauty, sex, Jell-O and all the other things I can prove and that make this life the best life I will ever have.

I can think of no reason not to believe in God. I can also think of several reasons TO believe in God. They are:

1. Love and fellowship with God and His Son Jesus while on Earth.
2. Meeting many Christian friends at your church and having wonderful Christian fellowship with them.
3. Learning beautiful songs called hymns to be sung on Sunday morning and evening and Wednesday night at prayer meeting or just whenever you want to.
4. Having the privilege to attend a Franklin Graham Festival or a Billy Graham Crusade in person.
5. Having the privilege of possibly working for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or Samaritan's Purse headed by Franklin Graham.
6. Spending Eternity in Heaven with God, Jesus, and your family that believed in Jesus.

a lot of it is via human history. For the longest time, there became no rationalization for why the international is the way it is, why organic forces behave the way they do, and why human beings are the way they're. Gods, and at last, faith, advanced with a view to describe this. the perception in gods now is in basic terms a carry over from those situations. eventually, in my opinion, human beings will quit utilising "god" as a catchall rationalization, and initiate accepting a naturalistic worldview.

1) There IS no actual proof, same theory as believing in Santa Claus, the Easter bunny, and the Trix rabbit.
2) People love to go around claiming there right, and that every other belief system is wrong, yet they never will go out of the way to prove your system wrong, and their beliefs correct.
3) People put WAY to much focus on religion, personally I don't really see a point in living my life according to a translated 2000+ year old book.
4) If I pray for something, is it really God that gives it to me? I mean I actually have to work to get it most of the time, the other times when I don't work for it, its very possible that it could just be luck or a confidence.
5) People see things different, Point of View
6) My parents forced me to believe in God, I ended up hating them, mainly because of other things though.
7) What exactly does religion do for people anyway? Wouldn't it make more sense to just live your life as a good person, using common sense? (well to me anyway)

Also please refer to a previous question of mine, stating a hypothesis that I current am tiring to prove.

I don't think people nearly have good reasons not to believe they just don't believe they don't have faith. I'm an agnostic and I feel unsure whether there is God or not. I just don't have that faith like don't feel like God is there. I never seen anyone be healed and never been healed my self. I would like to be healed and experience this might also make me believe.

There is no good valid reason not to believe in God. The people who say they don't, are just trying to get a reaction from you, I found out. Ignore them. They are ignorant, uneducated, and will never amount to anything, and then blame us for their failures and downfalls. All they really need to do is turn their life around, accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour and turn their lives over to God. God can and will take care of all your troubles.
