If there is no such thing as a "greater sin," and God sees a sin as a sin no matter what, then why do we (a Christian society) condemn a murderer or a rapist while treating those who have extra-marrital sex as a member of everyday society? I'm not saying that an adulterer should get the same punishment as a murderer, but if we are supposedly setting up laws based on values and morals, then wouldn't it make sense to do so? I see this as a flaw in the "no such thing as a greater sin" statement. I believe there are sins that are considered worse than others. Let me know what you think.

So what you are saying is if you kill someone, you can just ask Him for forgiveness and it's all okay once you die? Hmmm...I smell another question coming on...but it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Mans laws are not the same as Gods laws. If we were to treat adulterers by Gods laws, they would also be stoned to death. ; -)

Sins are in grades. In Islam we have greatersins and lesser sins and the punishment follow same order.
If sins are sins and not graded, then man will congregate on the greater one and that will mark the early destruction of life on earth.
For instance, a world of difference exist btw slapping with bare hands and shooting with a gun- the difference may mean life.

I don't think there is a greater sin, just greater consequences. All sins, whether stealing a piece of candy or committing murder, result in a broken fellowship with God, and repentance is needed to restore that fellowship.

In peoples eyes yes, there is greater sin. But, in Gods eyes all sins are equal. That is why he forgives us when we ask. The only sin that I think is above the rest is suicide because you can't ask forgiveness after you take your own life.

God doesn't see it the way we do necessarily. He does not see degrees or measures of sins, but in our society (Christian or not) we punish more serious crimes more seriously. Basically, on Earth, there are crimes that are considered worse than others, but in the end, God does not measure your sins.

Sin is sin in the eyes of the Lord. Anything that is not pleasing to God is a sin. That's why it is so important to walk close to the Lord. Live our lives pleasing to Him. We should ask Him to help us to resist all evil and temptation. He is our strength.

i think that there is such thing as a greater sin. Lucifer sinned so badly that he went to hell straight away. Now he is Satan.

God sees no degrees in sin.
Humans see degrees in sin.
God said His ways and thoughts are higher than ours.
That pretty much explains it. :)
