The Prophet was known as a good man, and gave a good message to his people to change their ways and to recognize there is only 1 God and to remember God has a way for us to live, in respect to ourselves and others. If that isn't good I don't know what is. Maybe you should do a search on Muhammad and the Arabian people before he came with his Godly message. After Jesus the Christ died, there was a split in belief from Judiasm, wars, lies, and nations of people forgetting what Jesus the Christ message was and making there on belief and traditions...Just like what you see going on in the middle east. That has nothing to do with the message and livilhood, the Prophet taught.

How can anyone who truly knows what the Prophet (pbuh) was like conclude otherwise. Below are authentic sayings he said for you to get a hint of what this guy was all about:
"Acquire knowledge, it enables its professor to distinguish right from wrong; it lights the way to heaven. It is our friend in the desert, our company in solitude and companion when friendless. It guides us to happiness, it sustains us in misery, it is an ornament amongst friends and an armour against enemies." (widely attributed to the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh))
"What actions are most excellent? To gladden the heart of human beings, to feed the hungry, to help the afflicted, to lighten the sorrow of the sorrowful, and to remove the sufferings of the injured." (Bukhari)
"Allah will not give mercy to anyone, except those who give mercy to other creatures." (Abdullah b. Amr: Abu Daud & Tirmidhi)
" 'Son, if you are able, keep your heart from morning till night and from night till morning free from malice towards anyone.' Then the Prophet said: 'O my son! This is one of my laws, and he, who loves my laws verily loves me.' " (Bukhari)
"Kindness is a mark of faith, and whoever is not kind has no faith." (Muslim)
"Whoever is kind, Allah will be kind to him; therefore be kind to man on the earth. He Who is in heaven will show mercy on you."(Abu Daud: Tirmidhi)
"Allah has revealed to me, that you must be humble. No one should boast over one another, and no one should oppress another." (Iyad b. Hinar al-Mujashi: Muslim)
"When two persons are together, two of them must no whisper to each other, without letting the third hear; because it would hurt him." (Bukhari & Muslim)
"Verily, it is one of the respects to Allah to honor an old man." (Bukhari)
"The perfect Muslim is not a perfect Muslim, who eats till he is full and leaves his neighbors hungry." (Ibn Abbas: Baihaqi)
He is not of us who is not affectionate to the little ones, and does not respect the old; and he is not of us, who does not order which is lawful, and prohibits that which is unlawful." (Ibn Abbas: Tirmidhi)
"Be not like the hypocrite who, when he talks, tells lies; when he gives a promise, he breaks it; and when he is trusted, he proves dishonest." (Bukhari & Muslim)
"The proof of a Muslim's sincerity is, that he pays no heed to that, which is not his business." (Abu Hureira: Tirmidhi)
"Do you know what is better than charity and fasting and prayer? It is keeping peace and good relations between people, as quarrels and bad feelings destroy mankind." (Muslims & Bukhari)
"Conduct yourself in this world, as if you are here to stay forever; prepare for eternity as if you have to die tomorrow." (Bukhari)
"The worldly comforts are not for me. I am like a traveller, who takes a rest under a tree in the shade and then goes on his way." (Tirmidhi)
He was known for his honesty, that even his enemies never called him a liar, they said, "O Muhammad, we do not call you liar, But we deny "Him" who has given you a "Book" (Quran) and inspired you with a "Message")
Here are what non-Muslim scholars who truly studied his life said:
"From the very beginning that he was unique in his person and behaviors. His whole nation testified to his truthfulness and sincerity of purpose. They called him 'Al-Sadiq' - The Truthful and 'Al-Ameen' - the Trustworthy. In all his multifarious dealings with all sorts of people he was gentle, and kind, straightforward, and upright. He had sweetness and charm of his own in his talk and department, he never indulged in any kind of indecency. He stood aloof from the feuds and wrangling of his people. On the other hand, he shared the weal and woes of everyone, and was always ready to give a helping hand to the needy and the downtrodden, the helpless and the indigent. Widows and orphans, slaves and wayfarers. In such a topsy-turvy world he towered above all. He was a beacon of light in the vast ocean of darkness spreading all around.
All authorities agree in ascribing to the youth of Mahomet a modesty of department and purity of manners rare among the people of Mecca."
- SIR WILLIAM MUIR (Life of Mahomet").
"They (Muhammad's critics) see fire instead of light, ugliness instead of good. They distort and present every good quality as a great vice. It reflects their own depravity… the critics are blind. They cannot see that the only 'sword Muhammad wielded was the sword of mercy, compassion, friendship and forgiveness - the sword that conquers enemies and purifies their hearts. His sword was sharper than the sword of steel.
- Pundit GYANANDRA DEV SHARMA SHASTRI, at a meeting in Gorakhpur (India). 1928.
