According to Amnesty International, more than 166 citizens have died after being tasered by the police and in most of the situations, the suspect wasnt threatening to police. Tasers are bing used on citizens for small reasons where as in the days before tasers, police officers would have to negotiate, nowadays its taser the person first then ask questions.

The key phrase is..."more than 166 citizens have died after being tasered"

I recommend gaining some critical thinking skills. What this did NOT say is what more the 166 citizens died FROM tasing.

Police generally do not taser people who are not resisting lawful orders. Not only this, but the taser (to which NOT ONE death has been directly linked) is used often in lieu of a gun or impact weapon which can cause serious injury or death. So, would you rather be shot or tased?

The deaths that the uber-political NGO Amnesty International was referring to are generally caused by positional asphyxiation. This means that a subject is unable to breathe in a certain position and suffocates to death. This is not caused by the taser. It's usually caused by gross intoxication.

For example, a subject is completely drunk, decides to take a swing at an officer or resists in some way, and gets tased. The officer, having subdued the subject cuffs him and puts him in the cruiser. The subject then passes out from the alcohol, slumps forward in the cruiser, and stops breathing. The officer then shows up at the station with a dead subject in the backseat.

These deaths have been occurring since the beginning of the police profession, and have absolutely NOTHING to do with tasers.

the taser is being used in many places where the person is not following the orders of the police, ie get down, stop, and so on. the taser, like the bean bag round, can be deadly but is alot more surivable than the batton or pistol. also the taser can be used tme and time again. for the majorty of people pain and collasping are the only efffects, but for some with heart conditions and such it can kill. the bottom line comes to 166 out of how many?

Does Amnesty international also let us know what number police officials were killed or injured by technique of actual attacks? i am going to guess no longer, because in the journey that they did, i'd guess the determination is a good purchase larger than the kind of human beings killed by technique of tasers. Police have a chop up 2d to come back to a decision if the fellow they're confronting is searching to damage them or no longer. i am going to admit, now and again that determination may be incorrect, yet they don't look in a position to "wait and see". i'd quite see an officer use a taser than a gun if plausible anyday. They serve and guard all voters and may no longer be requested to no longer take care of themselves wisely in any given challenge because the criminal may get damage.

Id rather be tasered than shot!! With all the paperwork a poice officer has to write that goes along with using their "weapon of choice" I highly doubt they are tasering people just for fun.
