what is the min weight? or is it more about if you have a medical problem associated with being overweight?

my neighbors across the street have a handicapped parking spot on the street right in front of their house. i see them go in and out but i see nothing wrong with them other than that they are overweight. no wheelchair or anything. are they sick or lazy? i don't know.

This is a tricky question, my first response would be lazy, but many overweight people have a hard time breathing and cannot walk long distances. I'm not saying it isn't there fault for letting themselves get this way but some do have true problems like a thyroid condition and it can't be helped. just remember not all things are as they appear.

R they elderly? I do know this one lady that said at age 60 in some small town in Mississippi that they give handicap stickers to those people that reach age 60 and are in perfect health. Also, if they do have excessive weight, they may have developed knee problems and can't walk short distances. Well, don't worry, because if they r trying to get over, they will get theirs in the end. Try asking neighbors or ask them yourself as a good neighbor that u c the handicapped sticker and u want to know if u could assist them in anyway when u have free time. They may tell u. If not, and they seem lazy......Try calling different exercise programs and have literature mailed to their address. Call several places, maybe they will get the hint.

that's the first I heard of being handicapped because of weight.

I know the min weight to get disability is 320 lbs. (I used to work in the social security administration) .

Medical problems for being overweight are diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems, etc. If your neighbor doesn't have a wheelchair (which most disabled overweight people use) then he/she is just plain lazy

I would say your neighbor is abusing their handicapped license, OR they may have a problem you know nothing about. Like being winded after walking a few feet. I understand your frustration; but you know there's not a thing you can do about it. Let every tub sit on it's own bottom. That means, MYOB and take note that not all people are good and honest.

You're jumping to conclusions that their handicapped permit is on account of their weight. Not very nice of you.

Many people are handicapped and look perfectly well. Maybe one as MS or vertigo, some sort of heart/breathing problem or some other medical problem that makes handicapped parking necessary.

If you're that nosey, ask them.
