Most physicians are always on call. Dermatology does not get a lot of extra call time. If you do not want to be on call, do not go into orthopedics, cardiology, surgery, trauma., ob/gyn, anything generally requiring surgery.
Be a dentist/oral surgeon.
Actually be a vet, all of your patients are self pay and you don't have to haggle with insurance.

OB/GYNs are on call more than any physician- pregnant mothers always going into labor 24/7. If you are in medical school- I suggest being an ER doctor. They work a shift and then go home and don't have the on call obligations. Other Dr's who are not on call are clinic physicians who do not have hospital patients. Any physician who has a practice and sees patients at the hospital will constantly be on call, unless another physician is covering.

OB/GYN are not nurses, only MDs.are. Nurses can work in the field but that's it. Most doctors are on call. If it is their day off, they always have someone covering because baby won;t wait when it's ready, Dentist, dermatologist, are not usually on call. If there was an emergency on these, you would go to the ER where they have their own doctors on call.

It is a federal law for a physician to either be available or to have someone representing their practice available in place of them in most fields. If you're interested in medical careers but don't want to put any effort into your patients by avoiding having to do a little extra work, I'd advise you to stick to flipping burgers.
