When dealing with relationships this seems to be the hardest thing to do. A lot of times people tend to hold on far beyond what's healthy. Its never easy to let go but, the best thing to do under such tough circumstances is to just be honest. Don't get into debates or arguments...just tactfully let that person know what you're feeling and all that you're going through. If they're mature, even though its hard, they'll stop and allow what you're saying to sink in. Maybe they'll even learn something constructive to take into their next relationship.

I was on the other end of the breakup, and what she did was wrong, but she was telling me something, but I refusing to listen.
It hurt me deep, but don't just drop it. The same care you took getting into the relationship with him, if you have any care, or feelings for him, do the same thing to let him go. Then that way you both won't be frustrated at each other. Peace and honesty is the way out.

As Nike says, "Just do it!" There's nothing worse than stringing someone along. Contrary to popular myth, lying doesn't spare his feelings. He'll know you're lying and resent it. That may make him angry enough to break up with you, but he'll hate you a lot more than if you'd been honest. Stop following the stupid old wives' tales and just be honest. He'll respect you for it.

No my issue is that I take way too long to know I wanted to break up with them. Once I know its easy.

Maybe because you do not want to hurt that person's feelings. I am in that same position right now!! Honesty is the best policy. I would do it as soon as possible so you do not mislead that person you are with. If you do not want to be with him, tell him so (NICELY). Good luck!

Yes, but I eventaully did. I was just honest, and told them that I didn't feel anything for them ,and I didn't want to lead them on anymore, that they deserved someone who would care for them in a way I didn't. It was very hard, and I avoided that person for years. They probably thought I was a *****, but I felt so bad every time I saw them.

No, I'm straight to the point. The way I see it, the longer you stay in a relationship with someone you want to be rid of, the harder it's going to be to leave it. The objective here is to make yourself happy and to be with someone you love and who loves you back.

Yeah, all I did was stop picking up phone calls and ignored all e-mails. It was the easiest thing I could think of doing because I didn't like confrontation.

yes, and i did the ol' be-mean-to-him-so-he-breaks-up-with-you trick. it worked but i guess that defeats the purpose of trying to not hurt his feelings by telling him the truth.
i was too young to know how to just be honest.
i wouldnt do that now
