My gran met my grandad when she was 13 she married him at 20 and started an affair age 27.

The affair with the true love of her life lasted until the day she died age 84 - they used to meet every friday night. And when she had died we found all the letters he had written to her for the 57 years hidden in the house.

So 57 years of forbidden love.

Love can last as long as you want it to but you have to work at it - I love my husband and family more than life itself but I also accept that sometimes he p*sses me off! But that doesn't send me running for the divorce court - life is like that, we talk and we are the best of friends for love to last you have to have friendship.

as long as both parties involved like. Love is hard work but if the two are not in tandem its all a waste of time and effort.

People can not be together forever unless they are in agreement to be so.

As an individual you can love a person for ever but for that love to be reciprocated is another matter.

do u ever doubt your love for ur family?? lol.. i know u mean loving someone as your spouse though. =T.... ideally of COURSE it COULD last forever..the question is are you and that person willing to continue working on it? if yes, you both are, you will see and experience wonderful things for the rest of your lives!! if at any time u get burned out or bored, or the other person does, that is when you will see problems. being able to continually see that person as enough for your is tough.. esp when human beings make mistakes and are by nature selfish at times. what i've learned, is that as long as i'm content that i am doing my best to love, support my boyfriend/husband mentally, physically, and emotionally, all i have to worry about is if he does the same for me. if he DOES, great!! if he Doesn't, but is willing and able to communicate and work on it, we can get through ALL things. my current bf is so diff from my exes in this: he is willing to listen to any of my problems/concerns, and tries his best to understand that if i am unhappy for any reasons, it is something to work on. regardless of if i am wrong or right, he is open to talking about it and trying to help me get thru it. i've never met any guy who would do that for me w/o getting exasperated or disappointed or angry..... it takes a big person to be able to admit mistakes, as well as not take my concerns directly as an attack on his flaws.... people make mistakes, it is working on fixing it that can make or break a relationship.

Well....

My parents met when they were 14. They are now nearing 60. They still love each other.

It's not 'forever' but its mighty close!

they say pathologicaly love only lasts 2 years!! by this time you know everything about your partner, (they say the best thing about getting with in a new relationship is discovering new things about them) so on to the next one you go! a very morbid view, ha

Well my parents are celebrating 30 years together this year and still going strong. Their love gives me hope. True love never goes away. It's unconditional.
