Did you know that you broke a commandment when you did? You're probably going to hell now.
31: "It was also said, `Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.'
32: But I say to you that every one who divorces his wife, except on the ground of unchastity, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

No, Brian, you are a ritard. I know God isn't real and this is proof to the fact that the bible doesn't make sense. Moron.

Cj if you don't believe that, take it up with Jesus because according to Matthew that is exactly what he said.

Wow, the brainwashing has gone FAR. Even presented with evidence that the book WRITTEN BY GOD according all believers and a direct quote from Jesus who is God correct. Yet, you make up whatever the hell makes you most comfortable to believe. This is a PRIME example of why I REFUSE to believe in this bullshit and join the side with all of you imbeciles that will defend the bible with you're dying breaths despite the multitude of hypocrisy's and contraversial statements inside it.

Marriage is good. I think that when Adam said, "For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave unto his wife and none else" he was verbalizing a wedding vow.
This is my take on these verses....
When a couple divorces for reasons other than cheating, the wife is no longer able to keep her vow- to stay with him, hence the title "adulteress"
The next statement takes some more explaining... When Jesus told Peter, "What you bind on earth will be bound in heaven..." I personally believe He was refering to marriage- that there is some way for a marriage to not be just "till death do us part" or "so long as we both shall live"... a marriage can be a pretty great thing, why end it just because one of them died?
That said, suppose a man and woman get married and it is one of those that is supposed to last beyond death... If they get divorced, and she re-marries... after they all die, she's still married to hubby #1, and hubby #2 is either out in the cold or feels like an interloper- going where he shouldn't have been....
That's just my theory...

This is so typical. Do you really believe that God thinks it is OK for men to divorce women if they are not virgins or have been unfaithful to them, but that the woman is required to stay married to a drunkard that beats her and her children until they are in the hospital or dead. Because if she divorces him for that she is an adulteress and will burn in hell.

Yes, I'm a believer, but I married a divorced man, who divorced his wife because she was unfaithful.
Honestly? I don't really care whether what I did was wrong at the time or not, because I wasn't a Christian at the time. I am now, I'm forgiven, that's all that matters.

There are biblical reasons for divorce and those should be the only reasons for it.
You did not include verses from the many places that the Bible discusses marriage. Keep reading.....
A sin is a sin but if forgiveness is asked for with sincerity then it will be forgiven, therefore your statement about going to hell is inaccurate.
"judge not, lest thou be judged."

did you forget that god is forgiving? it's like that one passage in the bible. all the people in a town decide they are going to stick an adulteress in the town square and throw stones at her. but Jesus took hold of the situation and said
"let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone." it was then that everyone realized that sinning is a part of life that came from Adam and eve. everyone has sinned. it doesn't mean you should try and control yourself, but god is forgiving, so i don't think we are going to hell.

Well now I suppose half of the world is going to hell? Most people who marry have been married before (ie: too young, abusive relationship etc) so I guess God dosen't give second chances?

You know...
if I had not married my 2nd wife who was divorced she may not have ever gotten saved.
God works in mysterious ways. Sometimes taking the bible or any religious tome too literally is dangerous.
That's why the bible tells you to pray.

It say's except on the grounds of unchastity. So if you married a divorced person, they better have been divorced because of one of them being unfaithful. Otherwise, yes, it is a sin.

My mom got divorced b/c my dad was cheating on her and refused to change. My step-dad got a divorced from his wife for the same reason.
Please enlighten me on if they are committing adultery. I doubt it, and even so, if you confess your sins, He is faithful and Just to forgive us of our sins and to cleans us from all unrighteousness.
And here's another crewball for ya, my mom and step-dad met over the internet. We lived in Iowa and he lived in Pennsylvania. They are the perfect couple and I hope that when I get married that my marriage can be as solid as thiers, founded on Christ.
God works in mysterious ways and he gets his job done.
