Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - this is a mental disorder that causes a person to be obsessive and compulsive (sorry, that's kind of facetious)
A person may need to do a task (i.e. unlock a dr) a certain # of times (i.e. 3) before satisfied (unlock the dr 3 times before going out or in... )
They may need to count things such as steps.
Some people also pick at nails, calluses, scabs, scalp incessantly.
They may need things to be arranged a certain way and get anxious when a room is what they consider messy or disorganized, etc.
They can become obsessive about cleaning or some other task to the point where they don't realize that hours have passed and they are still scrubbing the tub or something.
I've heard theories that nearly everyone (if not everyone) has OCD tendencies, but obviously not everyone is a severe case.
You can get more info on Webmd.com I'm sure.
I've only ever seen Over the Counter Drugs referred to as OTC so I'm not sure about that one, but it might work too.

Perhaps your refering to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which is a Axis I disorder consisting of repetitive obessive thoughts (e.g., cleanliness) and repeated compulsions to rid that thought. They have to be to the point of interfering with your life.
I am surprised that a nurse would have responded as she did. Kind of scary.
