My Canary, eye completely closed,is it infection or grit in his eye,how should i treat this bird?

Canary problem,,possible infection.or grit,,how should i proceed.

Get eye wash from the store (Its in the pet section) squirt it on for about 2 minutes. Don't rub it unless you remove all the grit!!!!! Do this as often as you can! The more the better. Also keep the Bird in cage that has no grit. Use paper until the eye is healthy. If it gets worse take him to the vet.

You can take a warm wet towel and gently wipe away the discharge. You pet may have a bacterial infection and might need antibiotic drops from your vet.
