There are two main issues. You can be born with the gene that does not allow you to reason rationally or you can have had a very traumatic occurrence to happen in your life as a child. Either you saw something traumatic or a traumatic occurrence.
There are some Effective medications now but hard to keep adjusted due to things that come up in everyday life that trigger another episode. Stress is the biggest trigger along with anxiety.
If you know someone encourage them to seek counseling.

there are no known causes of schizophrenia, but it is genetically linked. if you have close relatives that have been diagnosed with it then you have more of a chance of getting it. also it is said that stressful or traumatic experiences trigger someone when they have the genetic predisposition for it.

i agree schizophrenia.com is the way to go....
some of the causes are thought to be... child abuse, vitamin D deficiency in the mother while pregnant, head injury, trauma, genetics, and too little zinc......
