im looking for a decently priced gps hand held. preferably one under four hundred bucks and has a compass, altimeter, preinstalled mapping for national parks if possible.
also, something that is water proof. although, from what ive seen, most of them are. at least for the hiker ones anyways.

Hey midnightoker, :) you might try Sharper Image, Bass Pro Shops and I think the store is Outdoors Unlimited. Hope you find what you need. I got mine through a cop friend...we used to do a lot of hiking.

I would recommend benmeadows.com. They have a full line of GPS units, several brands. Brunton, Garmin, Magellan, etc. What is neat is that they also sell instructional software and videos for most of the units. These really help. I use a GPS every day on the job, and the video helped me to organize my waypoints into maps, and do a lot of things I wouldn't have been able to teach myself to do from the instruction manual.

certain!!! I surely have an old Garmin sys3 plus. For the money i imagine that Garmin is acceptable determination. I surely have used each of the others interior and out of doors of the Aviation community in Alaska, yet continuously bypass again to the Garmin.
