Clue me in please, I heard my daughters talking about one of their cousins.. they keep on stating that this cousin is EMO.. My girls are 11 and 12 years old. Their cousin is 14 years old.

EMOs are lame...they dress in small clothes and think they are punk. They are supposed to be sad, depressed music lovers or something like that.

Emo is short for emotional. Emo kids are usually the depressed kids that tend to border on Goth appearence... not quite as extreme. They like to write a lot of poetry about their depressions.

emo is were kids are kinda going towards Gothic but are not all the way Gothic. Emo kids try to act all depressed and are into suicide and all sorts of creepy things they all so have a tendency to cut themselves.

Emo is a type of music stylized by bands like Dashboard Confessional and such. It is often claimed to be "emotional" but many claim that it turns out whiney. Kids who like it are often withdrawn.

som31 who is always depressed the usually cut themselfs. N they think about death n think about commiting sucided. N sometimes emo kids are gay..

it can also be used to describe gothic type dress (dark colored clothing, tees with 1980 type logos, men's skirts, chunky boots and shoes)
