the button disables overdrive for things like city driving. Make sure that overdrive is on when you are on the highway or you won't get as good of gas mileage. It is ok to leave it on all the time unless you are pulling a trailer or something it won't mess anything up.

Overdrive is automatically enabled on the Toyotas when you start the car. This button is to turn it off (and to turn it back on again if you change your mind). O/D = Better gas mileage at higher speeds when you aren't shifting a lot.

I adds an"extra gear" called overdrive. Defaintly have the overdrive on unless you are doing heavy towing/hauling
