I am going to start a photo class in college and right now I can't afford a dSLR, but someday I am going to buy one, but I want to start out with a really cheap 35mm SLR camer just to get use to a SLR period. I love photography and I want to make it a profession one day. Here is the link to the camera I was looking at, please let me know what you think and any other advise would be great. Thanks

I started out on a canon rebel and absolutely loved it. Matter of fact, I have a rebel 2000 that I still use when I shoot film, even though I have others. If you are thinking of getting only one lense, get you one that has a good range. As you learn you can always upgrade. I started out with all the commercial lenses and now have all "L" series. It's a process. I have a 35 - 200 mm lens that I bought just to use when I was doing snapshots and I really like it. It's nice and sharp, even on the digital.

The Canon Rebel series have always been very nice and dependable. This would be a nice little camera for you to use to learn about photography.

As far as lenses, you would use any Canon EF Mount lense. A link for them can be found below
