Funny, I never hear anyone ask if it's OK to be racist against Americans.....Let's consider what racism is:

Racism is a belief that "race" is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.

So, if you believe that you are superior to other people simply based upon your ethnic background, then you're racist. This simply makes no sense and is not a defensible belief.

But "prejudice", let's consider that:

Prejudice is a preconceived judgment or opinion. An adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge, an irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics.

Frankly, THIS is something all of us do, everyday and in many decisions we make every day. How do we chose what car to buy? Some research it to death while others buy based on a brand they trust or how a car looks. This is a form of prejudice. There are negative aspects to be sure, but the fact is NONE of us can avoid forming opinions, both good or bad. it follows that we'll make similar distinctions about races of people. They may be right or wrong, but the generally come out of our life experiences...

I feel it's only wrong if you're not willing to change you mind one way or another, because then you're choosing ignorance over education.

Girl are you crazy? Just because Americans say we can't let every Mexican who wants to come over come over doesn't mean we HATE MEXICANS (some people do - but not all). The fact of the matter is I don't blame Mexicans (or anyone else) from wanting to come to America-but NO COUNTRY can take on all the people from every 3rd world country. Perhaps if America would demand better of Mexico's government (like it does with Cuba, Haiti, Chili, Iran, France, the Bahamas, etc.) perhaps there wouldn't be a NEED for them to come to the USA. I live in the Bahamas and we have a HUGE Haitian problem that WON'T be solved until the problem with Haiti is solved. Hating Mexicans is no kind of answer. Understanding and coming up with real solutions to the reasons people risk their lives to live illegally in other countries is.

Well, I hate to break the news to you, but "Mexican" within itself is not a "race" any moreso than being an American is (anthropology vs. sociology). So you cannot be racist against Mexicans even if you wanted to.

I think the term youre looking for is "prejudice".

And to finally answer your question the way I think you meant it; America was founded on the grounds that ANYONE who wanted to live here could do so, as long as they abided by its laws. Remember that the Declaration of Independence states "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."

So, no, it is not ok.

YES, but only legally.
Under the constitution of the USA it is illegal for an government entity, such as police or states etc, or any business that engages in interstate commerce etc, to be racist.
Individual Americans are free to be as racist as they please against any race or nationality or religion or whatever, so long as they do not use instruments of interstate commerce to do it, such as telephones, newspapers etc. if you put a sign in your window that says "room for rent, no mexicans" it is legal.
Just do not try to put an ad in the paper. IF you are sharing your home with a tenant, you may advertize legally because sharing a home is part of your castle and it is still respected. but most newspapers will not run the ad on policy as they may get in trouble, not you. that is why you sometimes see rooms to rent ads that specify female only or male only. most papers allow you to discrimnate on gender only in such ads.
so feel free as an American to be as racist as you want and be prepared to acept the social consequences but no legal consequences.

legally you may not be racist in employment. this is a concession that was made by legislation some years ago. If you are an employer, you are considered to be engaged in interstate commerce. they make exceptions for religious groups that hire workers, as this is a conflict between church and state. so some churchs may discriminate in ways individuals cannot. So presbyterian church may insist that the person they hire is their faith and this may impact mexicans disproportionately as most are Catholic.

Morally this is a question that is answered differently by different people and so it should be in a free country.

Its not okay 4 any1 to be racist to anyone.... Its a sin we're all humans N we should all love eachother n respect.. But if u think about we all say Racist comments sometimes even if we hate hearing it 4rm other people we always repeat it...Its just the life goes but none of us should be racist

It's not ok for anyone to be racist, but that works BOTH ways!!! MOST of the people on here who are ANTI-illegals, are AGAINST the fact that these people break our laws,don't pay taxes,drain our welfare services,take jobs from Americans, do NOT want to be American, but DO want to receive American benefits and wages!!!!!! It is NOT a race thing,but it IS an "obey our laws" and "preserve our sovereignty", thing.

The PRO-illegals,on the other hand, resort to name calling, insults, impersonations and outright lies.

Just LOOK at one of the posters on here!! We all know who she is, read part of her answer,"apparently they all make minimum wage". You see, it's people like HER that makes it HARD to not be prejudiced!!!!! And,although most of us have probably done some name calling,etc ( I will admit i have), it is time to LET IT GO, and stick with the issues!!!!!!!!!!

Standing up and demanding that our laws be upheld and enforced DOES NOT make one a racist. If an illegal is from Mexico, England, or wherever, they are breaking the law to be here and are criminals and should be deported.
