I dare you to turn your TV off for ONE WEEK. If you can make it a week, try it for two, then a month. Then, watch the news. I promise you, after one month of NO TV, you will be able to spot the OBVIOUS brainwashing.

I DARE YOU TO TURN YOUR TV OFF!

This is a public service challenge.

I lived for three years with the TV turned off, and I think it was some of the best time in my life. Turning off the idiot box frees you from the neverending stream of subtle and not so subtle indoctrination. Without TV, you will find yourself thinking about your life and what you want out of it much more deeply than when you're trying to squeeze a few ideas out of your head during the commercial breaks.

Some have suggested that TV is mental poison. And, it is. On the other hand, the world has been in such a precarious condition for the last several years that I find it hard to abandon TV now just when things might really hit the proverbial fan.

I actually did this once. I gave up television for 3 months because I was so sick and tired of the media worshiping celebrities and all the stupid reality television shows. It was very difficult at first. I missed some of my favorite shows but after a couple of weeks I was fine with just reading a newspaper or a magazine. I found that I got more stuff done and I had more time to hang out with family and friends. I have since started watching again but, I do it in moderation. I only watch informative television or useful T.V. I think everyone should take a break from the boob tube once in a while.

properly , Dont hassle Its organic !!! (for a television 12 of years age!) I had a similiar undertaking for my previous television while you're an explorer form, bypass forward , get rid of the lower back panel heavily (plug out capability grant) Use a vacuum air purifier or a mushy brush and gently wipe of the airborne dirt and mud. (I mean somewhat mushy and careful . U dont want your circuits to bypass Poof!) and, only take a glance at the two wires going to the swap (there may be short circuits or undesirable insulations . i had this undertaking. in case its advantageous dont do something! ). whilst its achieved , placed the panel lower back in place and there! youre achieved! If youre no longer that tricky/exploring form, call a mechanic (dont pay him plenty coz he's only appearing some clean ups!!! )

You can spot it now if you want to do so.

If you had control of such a powerful medium as TV wouldn't you use it to further your own agenda? In fact, aren't you using Yahoo Answers right now to beat your own drum?

Telling someone to ignore a source of information is not a challenge it's censorship. People are capable of forming their own opinion based on whatever information they have decided to use from whatever source they chose to obtain it. If they decide to base a decision or how to see the world based solely on what they see on TV that is a choice and their decision.

I understand what you are saying, but remember, sometimes you can draw a valid conclusion not by what is said, but by what is NOT said.

If people shut of their TVs they'd just watch streaming video on the internet. There would be no effect. You obviously haven't thought this through.

What you should be saying is visit other websites in the news game and read what they say about the Lebanon/Israel situation, the Iraq situation, the Free Trade situation, etc.

I was in a Indian village for three month (in the Amazonas) there was no TV, no News, no Radio, no cars, just us in the middle of the rain forest. We where working with the community. (I'm a Dentist) Those three months where the best of my life!!!. When I went back to the city, I felt so overwhelm that it took me several months to get back on track.

I have gone two years without watching any tv before. I do watch tv again now, but no news (it's all crap) and only science fiction shows because I like the story.

I agree w/ this statement to an extent b/c when I was living in England, the news was so different then it is here in the US. You don't realize how impartial the media is until you view it through the eyes of another culture.

I might as well turn my heart off... It's science that the TV is an involuntary part of the body and we can't control watching it. Suicide is not an option for me.
