sooner or later, you'll have to account for the difference. do you adjust your beliefs to fit something new you've learned, or do you make what you've learned fit into your existing belief system? how and why?

I believe what you have said in saying that you have to account for the difference between the two. As I have gained more knowledge over my lifetime I have adjusted my beliefs in conjunction to what I have learned. And as I get even older and gain more knowledge I will be continuously adjusting accordingly - change is good.

Your beliefs always supersede knowledge. Our learning and understanding is very limited. Look at how long it took for so many of our "Wonderful" discoveries. It wasn't until 1752 that Ben Franklin was actually able to harness and use electricity, but it was here on the earth the whole time, right? The Bible tells us in Ephesians 3:19 that love (which we also know that God=love) passes knowledge, and in 1 Corinthians 13:8 (known as the Love chapter) says love never fails but knowledge will pass away. We are limited on how high we can mentally ascend to, but there is no limit to what faith can do.

To my opinion Beliefs and Knowledge are two concepts very different.I shall place Belief on a Spiritual basis.I believe in a God,(as i understand Him) ,a Higher Power .The base is that He Loves me.That , for me , will never change , with only a few minor conception of His Love.
Knowledge is more a Human way of seeing things and adapt to them. Not so long ago , we thought our earth was flat. Our earth was the centre of the universe,a man/woman of fifty was considered (as we to-day consider a person of 110 year)as enigmatic.
To-day we consider Albert Einstein as a Genius Mathematician, and he his one but may be that in 150 years time he will be considered as having been a fairly good one..
Knowledge is in a constant evolution.
Beliefs no , or a small readjustment .

As I get older and gain more wisdom,I find that education
(truth)is more important to me . My personal beliefs ,I am not religious, stem from practical experiences in real life situations. I could never place blind faith above reality,I can if and when needed fall back on my conception of being kind, helping my fellow man,all the things that come to me naturally as a thinking human being ,not because a preacher ,pope,or whatever other church figurehead tells me that is the way. Each day I learn and I evolve with that knowledge but I am always true to myself that is who I have faith in

DEAR SEEKER

I THINK THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS:YES & NO.

IT DEPENDS ON WHAT THE NEW INFO IS......YOU NEED TO LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE LEARNING vs WHAT YOUR BELIEFS ARE.....
IT COULD BE THAT GOD IS SHEDDING LIGHT ON WHAT YOU THINK YOU UNDERSTAND ABOUT HIS WORD.

KNOW THIS.....GOD WILL NEVER LET YOU MISUNDERSTAND HIS WORD.....HIS WORD IS TRUE AND IF WE MISUNDERSTAND AND HAVE A TRUE DESIRE OF KNOWLEDGE. HE WILL ALWAYS SHOW US THE RIGHT WAY OR GIVE A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT WE ARE SEEKING. HE WILL NEVER LEAD US DOWN THE WRONG PATH....

SO IF YOU ARE LEARNING SOMETHING NEW FROM GOD'S WORD THEN YOU SHOULD PRAY AND ASK HIM TO CLEAR YOUR UNDERSTANDING. ONLY THE CREATOR CAN MAKE US UNDERSTAND WHAT HIS IS ASKING OF US OR WHAT HE IS TELLING US........SO GO TO HIM FOR CLARITY. HE WILL ANSWER YOU IN MANY WAYS. THROUGH SONG, A SIRMON, A MESSENGER, A CHILD.......ANYTHING, JUST KEEP YOUR HEART OPEN AND STAY IN PRAYER.

HE IS ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU!!!!

GOD BLESS YOU IN YOUR SEEK FOR KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge. Refusal to alter beliefs in the face of cold hard facts is the sign of insecurity and foolishness.

First of all I would try to make what I believe a known to me. If I couldn't do this then all knowlege is only going to be relevent to this known physical reality. Then your knowlege is that which makes sense to yourself as to how you conduct yourself in life. Knowlege is that gained from the life experience, as much or as little as you desire to collect. But all belief's are a waste of time unless they become known to you. What is the point in believing in something you don't KNOW. That is insanity!!!

i believe that God does exist. but no one KNOWS that he really does. should that change the faith that i have in God? no - i think that we should always follow our hearts and our beliefs. because you've learned something new doesn't necessarily mean that that is the truth. we all make our own truth.

I would certainly hope that no one would just to ignore things that they have learned in favor of superstition. The most enlightening beliefs/religion/spirituality are ones that can adapt and change as you do.
