What we have always done at weddings is to simply grab it and pack it with you. After the ceremony is over, it does not matter if the dress is wrinkled or not.

You probably want to get a bustle done where you bought the dress. A bustle is a little button that you can basically hook your dress up to so that it's gathered in the back. The other thing you can do is get a loop made so that you can hold up the end of your gown - but those don't usually look that good with small trains (tails). If you go to an alterations shop or go where you bought the dress, they should be able to show you pictures and examples of bustles and you'll be able to choose what you want.

For my dress, the place that will make the alterations will put a series of buttons, to place the tail so that after the ceremony the tail will be "lifted" so that it doesn't drag, the buttons will be hidden and won't be seen when the tail is down, you can go check with your place and see if they make that kind of thing.

I've never heard of a wedding gown tail. A wedding gown train, yes. You want to lift it? Not left it.
My suggestion - speak to the shop you bought the gown at. If you did not buy it at a shop and it's one that was passed down, go to an alteration shop and seek advice.
Congratuations on your wedding.

there is usually a small button and a thread loop on the back of the dress to get the tail off the floor...check the back of the dress very carefully...if you don't find it then add a small button and loop...go to a bridal store and look at dresses that have them to get an idea of what to do

if you go a seamstress you could have them put a bussel on your dress. This is what i had done with mine. There a few different styles they can do, and they look really pretty. I have a train on my dress, and after they did the bussel on my dress, i honestly think im gonna walk down the aisle with it like that, it just looks so pretty with my dress.
Anyways, it cost me about $25 to $30 to get a bussel on my dress.
Good luck!

if you want to lift your train the thing you want to do is bustle it and if your dress has a train you should be able to bustle it. this will compeletly lift your dress off the ground (the tail end). just go to the place you bought your dress and they can show you how to do it or if it's an heirloom take it to a seamstress they'll be able to do it for you. good luck! i put a link for you. hope this helps.

Add a snap type of button to the rear of your dress or a loop on the bottom and you wear the loop around your wrist.

Most people attach a small loop so they can put it on their wrist. If that does not please you, you can go to a local seamstress and she can attach hidden snaps that will help you pin it up. It's usually a quick and inexpensive procedure if you go to the right seamstress.
