My question regards sexual ambiguity. With all the intolerance and hatred of gays and lesbians, where does the sexually ambiguous fall into religion? The sexually ambiguous who have both male and female genitalia can choose to be either sex. Are they going to hell for this? If they choose to be with a woman, is that wrong? If they choose to be with a man, is that wrong? Although it isnt common, some sort of ambiguity occurs in 1 in about 5000 births.

I did not say there were 10 hermaphrodites born a day. There are many forms of sexual amiguity, hermaphrodite being one of them.

well, why doesnt the person try their best to have some type ofgenetic testing done? After all all fetuses are the same on the outside up to a certian point (seemingly female) then where the female genitalia is for a boy it starts to grow more and the labia fuse together and grow more(the scrotum). Getting a genetic test may determine if in fact the person is male, female or other (XXy XXX XYY etc). " Religiously" (most all religions require that) one ought to try to fine one of the opposit sex. But then there is the question of what is the opposit sex to one who is XXy or Xyy? EXCELLENT question and the topic could run on for quite a long time! I hope some religiously educated and trained persons would answer this with both their opinion and with their " religiously educated" answer .

What you are referring to is a hermafadite (not sure on spelling)
And the rate that you have chosen would mean there are about 10 born day. Your figures are way off.
It does happen and it is rare. Of those born with this defect, some have one gender that is stronger than the other, meaning if a penis is present, it is abnormally shaped and small. If the penis appears normal and testicals are in place, then the ovaries are abnormal and not in the correct positions.
On most of these, both female and male genital are both deformed and non-functional.
Parents are encouraged to name their children with something that is commonly used for both males and females.
It is ill advised to "pick" a gender for these children. Some do not know themselves until after puberty. Most never mature, as far as having a sexual desire at all.
This defect has no effect on the choice of homosexuality. Homosexuals have a weakness that they let control them, so do alcoholics and adulterors. None of these people were born with a genetic defect causing them to be ill and non functional.
And if you use the argument that these people are pre-disposed to these weaknessess, we are all born with sin nature, and if you want to call that a genetic defect, then fine, but we are all born with sin. We control our weaknessess or they control us.

First of all what do you consider to be "religious?" I simply think of myself as a basic Christian (who was raised Catholic) who believes in God. I don't go to church nearly as often as I should. But I try very hard to be a good person in every day life and help anyone I can if they need it. OK so I haven't read the bible since I was in high school, because it was required by our religion teacher. I guess I'm not what you would call "religious" and probably not the best "religious" person to answer this question. But I think a real God, a truly good God, would not care about any of those things. He would love all people equally because after all, he created them right? I think that kind of discrimination is man-made, and the kind of God I believe in would accept everyone unconditionally, with all their faults, with all their physical attributes, with everything no questions asked.

If a person has this physical characteristic and has made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ, he/she would talk to God about the situation and ask for wisdom and clarity. The Holy Spirit teaches and guides us in all things and does so in a very personal way.
My understanding of the issue is, though, that everyone either has the X or the Y chromosome, which signifies gender.

God Created Adam in his image. as people began to sin a lot God sent forth disease, disfigurement, and many other problems into this world. that would explain how they could be born. Just read the Bible and most of you Atheists won't have anything to argue about with us because the Bible answers all your question. and I dont know about the ambiguous parts. I guess pick a gender and stick to it.

If religious beliefs were dependent on what was on the outside of a person's body, there would be inspections at the church doors. If everyone who believed differently from the guy next to him, just kept his mouth shut, and went his own way, there would be a lot less killing in the name of God's in the world.

Well according to the OT if a person was deformed, maimed, missing a limb, etc. he was forbidden from being a priest and not allowed to take part in the sacrifice or touch the alter or be around anything that god would be around.

The question is flawed. It assumes what the organised religions tell us is correct. I think the message that Jesus was trying to portray, although we seemed to have lost it over the years or at least changed it, is very simple: 'Lead a good life, be good and love each other'. Your s*x or affiliations thereof are irrelevant

God has made pairs & examples of everything.
One of the greatest example is Adam & Eve. Apart from that he made a few other examples of animals.
Have you ever seen animals of the same sexes mate with each other? Nowhere is it written or studied in Science.
Then how can you change this god's created system??

No matter what parts they are born with, they are still only male or female. They can find out which they are. Their brains are one one way and the body should be made to match that.
