Why are there so many religions?

Because God is difficult to understand. He is beyond what any human can ever completely know. But that doesn't stop them from looking for him. There has never been a time or a culture in which man has not sought to know God. That is because in every human there is a God-shaped vacuum that can only be filled by Him.

Each group learned something about God. It like the old tale of the blind beggars who wanted to "see" elephant. One grabed the trunk and though the elephant was like a rope. Another grabbed an ear, and was determined the elephant was a kind of fan. Another seized the tail, and determined the elephant was a snake like creature. Because each only had a part of the elephant.

Each group has managed to grab "part" of God, and build a religion around it. Some have been closed to the truth then others, but they all contain some amount of truth. Such as a version of the "Golden Rule" or guidelines of moral conduct or a belief that God will help you in time of trouble.

But there wasn't a one that got it perfect. So God, who wants men to knew Him, have to make a revelation of Himself. He did that by becoming "one of us", a human, in the person of Jesus Christ. They were able to travel with him, hear his words, see his miracles, touch his hands after he had risen from the dead. And to record his words and teachings and what they mean in a persons life in the pages of the New Testament. This now gives anyone who wants to know God a revelation by which he may experince God in a personal and intimate way.

In essance, all religion follows the same god, just, with different perspectives on him. Regardless on whether he exists or not, it can be equated to the different religion's cultures, which gave the meaning of god and what he represents, such diversive tendencies.

Granted their are some gods that were made purely for the benefit of man, (false gods) that have been uncovered to be fake in the past and were created for riches and wealth, but, that could be equated to any god that hasnt been found out. We just don't know. But for the majority of the case, you could say the "uncovered" religions, the ones that havent been proven or disproven, can infact all share the one god.

Hmmm that's all I can really say, in such a question as this, the only answer comes from looking inside yourself.

Well, there are just so many different religions. Some have one God and some have different Gods. Nobody agrees on all religions as their's is right and everybody else's is wrong. But you just have people that believe different things. Thats why.

God is all made up. God is a spirit (not the alcohol kind) that exists in each of us. For every person then there is a God. Some people have figured out a way to sell that spirit and get everyone drunk on their spirit.

To be honest, there are so many gods because people, HUMANS, made them up. The only true God, Jehovah, his name means He Causes To Become, which means he came become WHATEVER is necessary to fulfull his purposes (Judge, Provider, Savior, Protector, King, Creator, etc).
These others "gods" were made up to be god's of different things, yet Jehovah God is the Only God of everything.

No there are different interpertations of HOW to BELIEVE in God...There are not many Gods (though there are many Buddahs...and the Hindus have a Pantheon of Gods). In general the Western Religions only have ONE God and continually disagree on how to believe in he/she/it.
