Feed him about 4 hours earlier, and then take him for a long walk just before bedtime...as he begins to poo at night, you can gradually make the walks a little earlier to accomodate your schedule.
Service dogs are trained to 'go' at specific times, and it does no harm.

the key word here is LONG walk, until he does it.

I do this when I'm going on a trip and leaving my dogs with a sitter. I know what hours she will be here, and I recondition my dogs well ahead of tiem to meet her schedule.

If you don't have time to walk a dog before you go to work, see about employing someone to do it for you, I hope you don't leave the poor thing in the house all day!!! Alternatively find him a loving home with people who have time for him. My 2 dogs go for 3/4 hour walk in the morning and at least 1 and 1/2 hrs in the evening during this hot weather and in the winter they go out in the middle of the day as well!

you could try a timed feeder that will feed your dog during the day while you're gone before you come home so that your dog might be more ready to go in the evening than in the mornings. But you have to take the dog out anyway in the morning, is it that much more inconvient?

I can't believe that you only intend to walk your dog once a day poor thing they need 2 walks how would you like it if I only let you go toilet once a day and in the evening

You should make time in the morning I am up at 5am to walk mine even if it's only 10 minutes to let him go

Dogs generally poop as many times a day as you feed them. Sometimes more. Just find a place to walk him. Dogs will go on the pavement if that's the only place for them to go. Just remember to clean up after him!

Dogs are not machines. They cannot poo when instructed. My dog poos everytime I take him out. It doesn't seem to matter to him what time of the day it is. He goes walkies 3 times a day. Thats a lot of poo. Where does it all come from??

I think you may need to wake up a little earlier and take the dog out or see about paper training...

How would you like it if you were only allowed to go once a day?

It is easy - just change the time he is fed. It wil take a couple of days to work through the system but then the problem will be sorted!

dogs should be going to the toilet more than once a day. it is ridiculous to try and think you can program a dog to poo when you want it to. i have three dogs and they all poo regularly and they go out when they need the toilet. how long does it take to just let your dog out or take them out to go to the toilet?
if you dont have time to do this you shouldn't have a dog.
