1) Go to the toy store and see if there are any toys she used to play with when she was 5 or 6.
2) My brother did this for me-- find a penny for every year since she was born and stick it to a card.
3) If she lives on her own, or in a dorm, get her some things she needs... towels, sheets, dishes... if she needs them...
4) Get a gift card for a manicure... or maybe a facial... or a massage

give her a book to read, it is still summer, so she could get some great reading time in. or like everyone else said get her a gift card, i don't think that they are impersonal at all. some people do..
or if she like to swim or lives where there is a pool, alot of the summer stuff at target is on sale, make up a "beach/pool bag" with the good book, and a cute towel sunglasses and sunscreen somethings like that would be fun lol

you know her favorites right? try somethin different maybe somethinshe needs, or just admires and wants, every one usually gets the same for every one try what you feel and different you know her more than we do, depends on how much you can afford as well, I always look for what I know she is into and what she just likes then get whats no one else thinks of in the catagorie , me its house furnishings they need kinda lame but they needed and really was happy with,
