You shouldn't do any type of weight training (or anything similar) until you are at least 16.

I started at 17. Using the bowflex isnt like using regular weights. From my experience, a 10 pound rod on the bowflex is not the same as 10 pounds of dumbells, its a lot less. It's a different type of strength training as well --more like resistance training, not as streneous on the muscles. As far as what age to use the bowflex... I wouldn't start strength training until at least 15. Using the light rods --5, 10 lbs for light resistance wouldnt hurt anyone, but people have been known to say that lifting weights (in particular) stunts your growth. If you're looking to gain more muscle and definition, i'd wait until about 17 or until your growth is pretty much finished. Using the light rods on the bowflex gives more of an aerobic resistace workout. I'd still recomend to be at least 15 to use the light rods.

There's not a specific age you just need one up for use, but there probably is a preference about 12, 13.

i dont' think there is an age limit to use it, you just have to learn how to use it properly so that you don't hurt yourself.
You probably need to be 18 to purchase it though. (over the phone or online anyway).
