Humanity as a whole has lost sight of an important truth: We need the Planet. The Planet doesn't need us.
Even if we nuke the whole globe, the planet will go on. If we sterilize it, the odds are still in favor of life regenerating. But the human race is optional.

If you think about it this way "only the strong survive" I interpret that as the "aggressors survive" and the passives will be killed off.
It's not a pretty predicament, is it? In order for the passives to survive they'd have to be the aggressors. If the passives have to be the aggressors for a short time to reign in the truly "evil," then I say it has to be done. Unfortunately, it's the way the world works.
Further, I think if a Bush had not been selected, that we wouldn't be in this predicament. Bushies are oil men, that heated up things over there. Our resources have been wasted in Iraq when we have bigger fish to fry. Now we're in debt and our military is getting exhausted. We don't need any more crap to deal with at this point. What a mess.

Recent studies show we are traveling hundreds of thousands mph. expanding. the problem is when it all starts to come together again. Don't worry its over a billion years away and on our current track it will be over in the next century. So for now were all going to Disneyland.
