because she still seeks your approval as a mother and doesn't want you to have odd or negative thoughts of her. So, she figures if she lies or doesn't give the whole true you really won't know and without knowing you won't be able to judge or maybe become hurt!

Why do most people lie? Because they are afraid that people won't accept them for what they are or the choices they make in their life. Shame, fear, guilt, and being judged.
Have you not liked bf's in the past? Have you yelled at her or been upset about them in the past? She may not feel that she can safely tell you and not be judged by you.
I have friends in their 30-60's who still don't tell the whole story about things to their parents.

Well I think either maybe she felt that is none of your business or that maybe she's not sure if he is a keeper so she rather keep it at a low until she can figure out if this is short term or long term. Give her time to tell you, Mothers who worry too much pushes their daughters away more and more if they try to find out everything before she gets to tell you.

Because sometimes parents are so judge-mental. I lied when I knew my mother was not going to not see my views and judge me the wrong way. It's easier to lie than to tell the truths to some moms. (I don't condone lying) Check yourself and ask why she would lie to you and don't pretend you don't know.

Maybe she just wants to experience her relationship on her own without your approval,Sometimes us mothers can be so touchy about our daughters lives because of our own relationship experiences they need sometimes just to jump right in without our approval or disapproval this gives them a sense of Independence!

maybe in the past she has felt pressure about having relationships with guys (perhaps from her parents?) ... maybe she thinks you won't approve or that you are too strict.
I'm sort of just speaking from experience here. I'm not saying anything about you specifically, just think about it. Parents have far more influence over their children (even adult children) than they think they do.

Maybe she doesn't want you to know everything. You dont need to know everything. She's 27. Its normal.

Because your still her mother I would do the same because no matter what my mother is my mother and it would feel different to tell her. I see why your asking because she is grown but still its just natural instinct.

She probably dont want to tell you because she is afraid you dont approve of him and shes scared of that
